Also probably a lot to do with how the line looked was the fact that Landry was not calling out the right coverages compounded by the fact that they probably didn't feel he could beat them with his arm so they were just gonna bring the heat all day and that's what they did. They would have looked much sillier if Ben had been playing. They obviously came to put heat on Landry and stop the run because with AB and Bell out they felt they could accomplish that. They pretty much did stop the run but they still lost. Because they're Cleveland. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if some of the offensive line woes wasn't due to Landry not having the smarts that Ben does and not being backed up by the offensive threats that spread the field like Ben is.

The effort you have put forth to necro my posts is impressive. Seriously... I don't see the Steelers making much noise in the playoffs this year. One and done... and if they get by the Dolphins, Chiefs will beat the Steelers soundly. Be sure to necro that, too.

It was no effort at all. When 99% of your posts are negative or wrong it was quite easy.
I just hit the tip of the iceberg. It's super easy when a person is so knee jerk with their doomsday posts.

I'm negative like HeinzMustard, I've watched the Steelers since 1971 and I understand what he is going through. I went through the 80s and 90s when the team had the likes of Bubby Brister and Kent Graham leading the team and all those years of trying to watch with black and gold colored glasses just made me more miserable. I feel like if I'm not optimistic about the teams chances it makes me feel great when they win but it seems as soon as I get behind the players it falls apart. So staying pessimistic keeps me from getting too high when they play well and win, as well as keeping me from slashing my wrist when they come out flat and fail in all 3 phases. I get what he is doing and by venting concerns it sort of makes one feel better, ask my wife and she will tell you when the team starts looking like crap she will leave the room because my blood pressure goes through the roof, I'd be the worst owner in the league as I'd have about 4 or 5 HCs a years and dozens of coordinators as a poor performance everyone would be fired...LOL. I'm happy the Rooney's stick with consistency but Tomlin does bother me in the fact they can't seem to get a LBer to save their life and the lack of depth at D-line has been a sore spot since Ziggy Hood and Cam Thomas stunk up the joint although in the defense of Hood, I'd take him any day over the waste of space Thomas.

The defense gave up over 200 yards rushing, they let crowell rush for 152 yards on 19 carries alone, I think they were just flat after that emotional game with the rats, because if they give up that many rushing yards sunday, Ajai will have another 200 yard game again, we scored enough points 21 in regulation to win the game but this defense sent us to OT and we know there is no such thing as playing not to get hurt in football, just ask any player or coach.......

Exactly. And we all know how much they're wrong.

This is the joy of being a fan. I can be super optimistic and cheer my team on. If I'm wrong it don't matter because I'm a fan and I'm supposed to be positive and support my team through good and bad.

If you're super negative, make doomsday predictions and try and convince everyone how bad your team is. You're going to come off like a traitor. And when you're wrong you're going to get clowned on.
That's just the way it is.

Yeah I watched the game. I also noticed that Ben, Bell, Brown, and Pouncey didn't play. I also noticed we won.

I watched BJ Finney get destroyed. Highlighting both Pouncey's value as well as Oline chemistry and playing as a unit.

I watched a Dline that featured practice squad talent at 2 of 3 starting spots, on nearly every snap. Where our best edge defender (Harrison) was also rested.

Did you watch the previous 5 games? Our defense finished year ranked:
    - 12th in total yards against
    - 13th in rush yards against
    - 16th in pass yards against
    - 10th in points against

Pretty solid for a young defense, that lost it's best player, and is starting rookies at 3 key positions.

As an aside... Kansas City finished:
    - 24th in total yards against
    - 26th in rush yards against
    - 18th in pass yards against
    - 7th in points against

I always see things more positively. I tried to find good in everything and I even found some positive in Heinzmustards posts. It's a new betting mechanism. Sure fire. Whatever he predicts you do the opposite lol.

More like Pouncey wasnt playing to call out the coverages, the QB just identifies the mike and the center sets the coverage....

Just want to point out as well that Shazier came out and said the guys were not playing their best because of the fact it was in their eyes and his opinion a meaningless game. This indeed would impact their play and account for the poor play coupled with the fact there were alot of guys not playing

Once again Tomlin didn't have his team prepared and we lost to a sub-500 team.
    Oh, wait....

Can the Steelers win with the way the defense is playing, giving up TDs on the last drives of the game or not being able to get off the field? I go back to the 2008 season. The offensive line struggled that year, with penalties and giving up sacks. But James Harrison and Santonio Holmes made great plays to overcome the team's flaws. This year, can Ben, AB, and LeVeon overcome the defense's flaws? They are capable of it. But part of that success will come from lesser names making a crucial play.
