It's in the back of all of our minds. We're on a winning streak, and going to play a big game against a team that we should be able to beat.

It seems like all 3 of the Steeler Head Coaches from the past 50 years had a "penchant" or proclivity.

Chuck Noll coached teams usually coasted through the regular seasons and were 10-6 type teams, but they played their best in big games, the bigger the game, the better they played.

Bill Cowher teams were 45 minute teams, they played the fanny off for 3 quarters, and took off the last quarter. It got so bad that they had to adopt the "60 minutes" rallying cry.

Mike Tomlin teams play up to and down to the competition. If it is a great opponent, they play great. If it is an average opponent, they play average. If it is a lousy opponent, they play lousy.

The Miami Dolphins are a very average team, so we will play very average. In cases like this, the game will come down to the wire, and one of 3 things will happen.

1.Ben will either make a couple great plays and win, or a couple bone-headed plays and lose.

    2. Tomlin will make a couple great decisions and win, or a couple bone-headed decisions and lose.

    3. Someone on the Defense will do something crazy spectacular and save the day.

Personally, I can feel option #1 in my bones right now. The reason I feel this way is because, historically, when Ben misses a couple game due to injury, or we get a bye week, Ben sucks in his first game back.
Ben didn't play against Cleveland, so if the trend continues, Ben is going to make some real bad throws.
Sometime he gets away with it because a defender drops a sure interception. In those 2 or 3 interception days Ben has, it usually could have been 4 or 5 picks.

I don't think the Dolphins can beat the Steelers, but the Steelers can beat the Steelers. We're on a 6 game win streak, and due for a clunker. Steeler clunkers have a way of happening at home too.

I'd feel better if we were playing a great opponent, because I know we would play up to them.
I'd even like to be playing a bad opponent, because even if we play down to them, we still have the ability to do enough to win.

But because we are playing an average opponent, and we will play average, it comes down to Ben or Tomlin to either do something great or bone-headed. And since we are due, I fear bone-headed is in the cards.

So we could beat a team worse than the Dolphins and we could beat a team better than the Dolphins, but we can't beat the Dolphins

But, Ben's not coming back from an injury or a bye week. I assume you won't be watching?

Already calling for a bad game or bone head plays? Damn this crap is pathetic. How about "Its time for a Ben/Tomlin title run" instead?

You can say 1/2/3 for every NFL team, every week. Most games come down to a handful of plays or decisions to determine the outcome.

Dolphins are VERY average. I can name 10 better teams, 10 just as good as teams, and 10 worse teams.

Dolphins are same grade team as Tampa, Titans, Colts, Texans, Bills, Skins, Eagles, Saints, Arizona, Detroit.
