While the Cheatriots get to sit around and wait for the AFCCG. F the Broncos and Raiders/Chargers for losing.

Steelers did it to themselves by giving away the Dallas game and losing to terrible Eagles and Ravens teams. Plus they got the Phins when they were struggling big time and they didn't show up on that day either.

Win any of those and the Steelers are the 2 seed.

Agree. Difference in good and great coaches. Great coaches realize how important the 1-2 seed is and win the games they are suppose to. Good coaches brag about 10 win seasons. When it's really 13-14 wins a season that makes you great.

May not get to them having to play 2 games, with the 2nd being at KC. Had a better shot going Miami, at Oak, then getting AFCCG then what they'll have but like I said, it's their own fault and why when the Steelers lose a game early in the season and fans get upset (and others tell them it's still early and it doesn't matter) - it really does matter. It matters to get an extra week of rest, it matters to get an extra week of film study, it matter to only have to win 1 game to get to the AFCCG (and have it be at home).

In summary, every game matters. Some people don't recognize that.

Yeah, let's fire Tomlin right now. Who needs playoffs if we don't have a bye? I mean, why bother to even play? Nobody but 1 and 2 seeds EVER make it to the Super Bowl, right?

well one week at a time. Lets worry about Miami first. Sure playing at KC then AT Pats seems like it wont happen this year, BUT... lets worry about that if we get past miami.

Not afraid of the Chiefs. There is always the Andy Reid factor.

NE really has a double bye coming- can anyone win the Raiders/ Texans game?

They're 34-23 in their all time playoff record.

    5-5 in the WC round.

    15-9 in the Div. round.

    8-7 in the conference championship.

Prefer it to go through Pitt, but I've seen em lose there as well as on the road. It doesn't matter. What ifs are unicorn farts... They don't exist.

Their path starts at home this weekend... Let's Gooooooooooo

Percentages of getting to the Super Bowl are far higher for 1 and 2 seeds, especially lately. No one playing on the first weekend has made Super Bowl in 4 years. Since the playoffs expanded to 6 teams, teams playing on the first weekend have made the Super Bowl 23% of the time, so clearly there's about a 3 to 1 advantage of having the bye. But, those are just numbers - what do they matter.

It's not so much Andy Reid - it's the health factor. Look at last year - the Bengal game ended up being a Steeler win, but they lost AB in that game, which probably cost them a win at Denver.

Playing an extra game doesn't mean you can't win, but it's not the preferred method. Anyone trying to talk themselves into that is blindly trying to convince themselves of something else.

Of course the odds are better if you get the 1 or 2 seed. What really annoys me is that after winning 7 straight to pull what could have been a lost season out of the fire, there's still no shortage of complaining and Tomlin bashing.

    Teams lose games, it happens.
Half way through the Ravens game last week you were calling for a total gutting of the team. Why are you so worried about who we play?

Not complaining, just stating that every game matters. That fact is lost on far too many people. Games in September matter just as much as in December.

Too many people just shrug off those type of loss. People that accept less than top performance get just that. Sports is just a metaphor for life.

That's what separates the truly successful and the rest.

Great teams don't lose as many, particularly to teams they shouldn't. Yes it happens and when it does, it cost. Happened to the Pats last year in Week 17 and probably cost them a Super Bowl (gave up HFA to Denver).

Of course all games matter. I'm sure that people don't believe that they don't matter.
Where the disagreement lies is when we lose a game and people are saying the season is over.
Heck by your logic we might as well forfeit since we didn't get a bye.

Obviously it's not over, but they probably made it too difficult for themselves to win a Super Bowl so really if they don't win a SB because they gave up the 2 seed or HFA, aren't those games they blew actually what essentially will end their season?

    Would you rather have

    vs Miami
    @ KC

    or

    vs Oak/Hou

    It's not even close.

Don't you think losing AB @ Cincy last year made a difference in Denver?

Chiefs lost home games to the Bucs and the Titans! Both pretty good teams actually but both were HOME games....just saying!

Should we have won those games? Yes... But that's all in the past now. New season starts now. Everything else is in the past. We're a new team. Let's get it done.
