Joe Greene is the answer because he could have played either the nose in the 3-4 or defensive end in the 3-4. If you seen his Football Life story on NFL Network, he talks how he told the coaches the idea he had of slanting between the guard and center forcing a double team. The proof is holding the Raiders and Vikings to 29 and 21 yards rushing respectively in the 1974 AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl.

Probably not much. I was definitely not comparing the two in terms of quality. I was just adding in a quip about how Sherman gets away with playing 70's coverage techniques. Yeah... I'm STILL pissed at how the officials let him throw AB down to the ground 35 yards downfield, and then get a pick 6 that never should have been.

Id love to have Bettis, just for 3rd down situations. There werent many times that he coudn't pick up 3 yards easily.

Right after Bettis, Mike Webster. Best center in the history of football.

Bettis following Webster, just imagine the yardage gained.

    I was thinking Bettis too..
Best Defense could be our offense ..
3rd and 3 or less were damn near gimmies for the Bus
Keep the D on the sidelines and get back to owning T.O.P. ,pound and control the game .
Would love to see those nice 9-10 minute drives again.

    ....

I think the guy as my avatar would give Butler limitless options; Sean Davis being the biggest beneficiary the best part.

    Heath Miller.

Or Louis Lipps, for receiving and returning.

My real answer is Mel Blount. We were both thinking corner though.

Yes they have ,but with a great CB they would improve by 10 fold ....Just imagine Rod in his prime playing the #1 WR and allowing Artie to play the #2 ....This would allow us to play a lot of 0 coverage and blitz at will ....

Our D would do from average to elite .....

No doubt, I just don't know if our coverage is the weakest part of our team?

Ultimately I'd say the absolute weakest part is our special teams. I'm definitely not the biggest fan of our secondary though. Although they are much better at this point than they were from the beginning of the season.

You have a good point ...I would say the weakest part is actually the bu QB ,but the position that would have the biggest impact is CB imo..

Steelerglenn is right. Now that I think about it Kevin Greene might benefit our defense more than Woodson. Greene was a sack machine his entire career. I think I'd rather have him and roll with this current secondary, Greene would make it easier on them. So yeah I'm flipping from Woodson to Greene. Sorry Rod I just can't get over your ratbird bloodlines.

The Steelers defense could not get off the field on the Ravens last scoring drive. I could see an argument for Kevin Greene, but I still say Joe Greene. He was as good as any pass rushing defensive tackle ever to play.

This is tough. My initial instinct was Bettis. Keep him in the backfield and send Bell out as a WR. The offense would be even more potent.
Switching to Defense, I might consider rookie year Kendrell Bell, or 2009 Lamarr Woodley. Having a second OLB who could rush the passer would force teams to gameplan, creating more opportunities for Harrison.

Greg Lloyd or Mike Merriweather would be my pick. Although Hardy Nickerson or Rod Woodson would be hard to ignore.

Im gonna say Lloyd fo sure.

P.S. if i could choose between Polamalu or Shell, I would take Shell everytime. I get offended when people say troy was our best safety ever. Donnie Shell was the best safety I EVER saw play, and that includes Ronnie Lott and Troy.

Joe greene or mel blount. Loved woodson but he would gamble to much sometimes and get burnt trying for a pick 6. Did somebody really say joey porter or was that a joke?
