    Indubitably

Actually, right now I'm on the seesaw. If we loose our first playoff game I may swing con. If we win the Super Bowl, I'll be pro for a long time.

I only have one question about Tomlin and how good or bad he is as a coach.

    Who else is better?

Go through the 32 coaches and find me a better coach. Tomlin has NEVER had a losing season. How many coaches can say that?

He is a top 10 coach in the NFL...period. If you don't like him and want to replace him....fine, but you have to say who you would put in his place which would be better.

One last thing....the thing none of us know is how involved Tomlin is during the week in gameplanning, etc.

He's the head coach. He is involved as much as he wants to be and feels he needs to be. There is nothing coaching wise or game planning wise that should happen without his 100% agreement. He is ultimately the one responsible. He gets the credit and the blame.

Agreed. But if we keep having winning seasons and fall short in the playoffs is that satisfactory? In my book, the ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl. Can Tomlin do that going forward? We will see shortly. We have the tools to do it this year. No excuses.

Tomlin's response about TB's comments was pretty awesome today in his presser.

"I don't think my resume reads as great right now. There aren't many who are." He said Belichick and Popovich are great coaches. Said everyone else trying to achieve that. Also said that saying he's just a "cheerleader guy" veers outside the bounds of criticism and is unprofessional/disrespectful in his opinion. Finished by saying, 'what do I know? I grew up a Cowboys fan, particularly a Hollywood Henderson fan.' A nice dig for anyone who gets the joke.

If Tomlin takes the Steelers into Foxboro and beats the Patriots for the AFC Title, I will take back every unkind thing I have ever said about Tomlin. It would be his "slaying Goliath" moment.

Noll had his in 1974, when the Steelers went to Oakland and upset the Raiders.
Cowher had his in 2005, when the Steelers went into Indy and upset the Colts.
Tomlin in 2016? We shall see.

Dang that Hollywood crap is low. LOL! Since he has said that I wish he would let Terry start a playoff game for us since that obviously lights a fire under him to the tune of 4 td's and 300yds. I think it's cool that Tomlin definitely knows that we as fans know our Steelers lore and will for sure get that reference.

A classy response to a classless clown.

I haven't had a chance to check out his weekly press conference, yet. But I'll keep my ears perked for this portion.

I agree with him regarding the sentiment in bold.

Different strokes for different folks. some need a ripping and some don't. Players are under contract they can't just walk away , they need to grow up.

That classless clown helped to deliver 4 Super Bowl trophies to Steeler Nation and seemed to come up big in the biggest game at the most crucial moments every.single.time!

I think I'll let him have his opinion. Even though I don't necessarily agree with how he stated it, I do agree with his main point that Tomlin isn't a great coach. The final chapter on Tomlin's career has yet to be written though.

He is in a group of active peers with 1 super bowl win, 85-113 wins, and a .586-.649 win percentage - Tomlin is grouped with Mike McCarthy, Pete Carroll, John Hairball, and Sean Payton. McCarthy has the most wins and highest winning percentage of the group. Tomlin is second in both categories.

Inactive coaches close to those parameters include John Madden, Vince Lombardi, George Seifert, and John Gruden. Obviously, Madden was much higher of a winning percentage and Lombardi won many more titles, both of which are in the HOF. George Seifert is 114-62 with 2 super bowls and is not in the Hall. Tomlin would need to win next week, win the super bowl this year or next, and be 11-5 next year to tie him. Again, George Seifert is not in the HOF.

Should he stick around as long as Andy Reid or Jeff Fisher, he could certainly catch them in the wins category. Though I don't know that total wins necessarily makes for a great coach. As Jeff Fisher with 173 wins has a .512 winning percentage and never won a super bowl.

Given that Tomlin has similar stats as so many others, to even get into the HOF he is going to need separation from them.

Is he great? That designation may be best served once his coaching career is over, or he has added more to the trophy case. Right now, he is definitely one of the 6 best coaches.

Just one point - those 2 defining moments you cited for Noll and Cowher took place before either coach had ever won a championship. Tomlin already has a title on his resume.

True. But Tomlin still hasn't slayed a beast. His post-season wins: San Diego, Baltimore, Arizona, Baltimore, NY Jets, Cincy.

Besides, I didn't call them "defining" moments.

He can also delegate as much as he wants. The point is he can be simply a cheerleader if he wants and run things only on game day

The one thing that Tomlin has done that is really impressive is to beat a division rival 3 times in one season. He done that against Baltimore. If I were him I'd put that on a resume. He's still far from a perfect coach though. Just sayin' that that's something few can claim to have done.

I think Ben is more of a coach than Tomlin. On the field he audibles out of the called plays from Haley all the time. When Ben wants to go for 2 Tomlin rarely says anything to stop him. Every time we score Ben is lobbying to go for 2. That lost us the Dallas game. I think the players look at him as one of the guys except he's the head coach. I'm sure he has input on offensive and defensive plays. I'm sure he has the enjoyable job of telling a player he's cut, which no coach likes doing. When the game starts his clock management and in game adjustments are sometimes good and sometimes bad but you can say that for almost every coach. So I agree I can't think of much else than being a cool coach to play for. One thing I'll say we've never had a losing season under Tomlin.

What a dumb argument, it's not like he gets to choose his opponents in the playoffs. Beating Baltimore in 2008 AFCCG is a big win, which was their third win over Baltimore that season.

Yeah I posted that on here, yet after every loss some fans want to fire the HC . The Steelers would end up being like the Browns if they listened to the fans.
