After taking Pouncey out, he needed a little redemption from 2013.

Seriously interesting though. How did he pass on Sunday and be allowed back into the game but be out this week?

I was ready to cal BS on the Bengals staff, but isn't the concussion protocol done by independent personnel? Is it that easy to beat if you want to?

Yes, from what I understand, the concussion protocol is done by an independent person from the NFL. He (they) are the people on each teams sideline in the blue hat. I noticed the independent person twice last week, once talking to Burfict and the other time talking to Green. So, yes, I was very shocked to see Burfict return, he looked like he had no idea where he was at when he was walking to the sidelines.

Like I said in a ealier thread, I have played and watched alot of football in my life.
When I saw Burfict get up and stumble around I thought I would not see him again.

    So much for protocol

    Aye.

The NFL protocol states that it's possible for the sideline test to miss signs of concussions, and therefore it's important for teams to notice "subtle changes in behaviour" in players.

To be fair to the Bengals, spotting erratic behaviour by Burfict is a difficult challenge...
