He might have started the season slow like the rest of the defense, but I feel that he is playing at a level that makes him indispensable to the team right now. I do not see him slowing down at all. Timmons and Shaz in the middle is fantastic, and both are capable of moving around and playing OLB.

Timmons has said he isn't looking to break the bank and wants to stay in Pittsburgh. I think that he should be kept for his play alone, but also because he has been an ironman for the team since he has been drafted. He is consistent and you can count on him.

So Steelers if you are reading this, please resign him!

Apparently you don't read the threads here much. Timmons is done and should have been released by now. He is too old and slow, or too good and athletic...something like that anyhow. Keep Timmons, crazy talk!

I use to think the Steelers got it backwards. They signed Timmons as the 1st rounder and Woodly as the 2nd. I do think the Steelers did get it right. Sign him

Once again timmons is the leading tackler on defense in week 15 with 98, the closest player to him is shazier with 69, they better resign this guy if they value performance over age, after all they resigned two former inside backers farrior and foote when they were older than timmons........

I agree I would resign him especially if he doesn't break the bank. If they can get a good deal I'd love to see him retire as a Steeler!

It would have to be the right deal, There is no reason to over pay a 10 year veteran. I think Vince Williams is better than people give him credit for.

Hopefully they get a 3 year deal worked out. Going to be hard with trying to sign Brown and Bell long term.

If Timmons means what he says, that money isn't an issue, then I totally expect him back.

On a side note, Williams had a funny tweet, something along the lines that Law Dog is determined to keep me a back up forever :lolol:

This basically. If he truly wants to stay and doesn't care about money then we can get the deal done. If his deal hinders our ability to lock up Tuitt, AB or Bell then I'd say let him walk.

He has been good for us this season, but we have to remember the we should expect regression moving forward with his play. I'd like to resign him to a reasonable deal, but he is way down the priority list and we will only get to him if we have money left over for him

Timmons gets about 10m a year now, and I can't see paying an 11th year guy that kind of money. If he would agree for a one or two year deal for 5m a year, keep him for his experience if nothing else.
AB and Bell are going to need a big deal, Villy makes 480k as a starting left OT, Cockrell makes 600k as a starting CB. Tiutt only makes 1m to start as well.Things like that have to be addressed.
I think Timmons came in tho the season out of shape and has spent the year playing himself into shape to peak at playoff time. The rpoblem with that is that he wasn't too good in september, october, and november.

If Timmons signs a cap-friendly 2-3 year deal that allows Steelers to sign/extend Bell, Brown, Villanueva, Tuitt and Cockrell... then I'm all for it.

Vince Williams was just extended... so it's not a priority, but keeping Timmons would be good for depth at ILB. Plus, the Steelers wouldn't have to worry about ILB in the draft.

The backs on backers goalline stop was a play that will stay with me forever.

(Too bad they ultimately scored on 4th down)

I definitely was one of those guys who thought Timmons' best days were behind him.

He still does not have that fast step like I saw in his heyday... but he can still make plays. Best of all, he is showing Shazier how to get it done more and more.

Sign him for sure. :thumbs up:

The thing here is he is coming off a big contract where he was one of the highest paid players at his position. I want him back but if he wants another big contract it won't be here we just can't do it. I want him back and I hope he is true to his word he wants to retire a Steeler and I hope the two side iron something out.
