I get that. But the comment suggested contentment at winning regular season games.

I'll take 9-7 or 10-6 and a title over 12-4 and a loss to Tebow in the Wild Card round.

Some things to throw out there:

50-24 (took 74 games to get to the first 50)
50-33 (took 83 games to get to the next 50)

The first 50 led to two Super Bowl appearances, 3 division titles, and a 5-2 post-season record.
The second 50 led to a 1-3 post-season record and 1 division title.

I'll add this little nugget too:

    Chuck Noll: 100-56-1
    Mike Tomlin: 100-57

Both won their very first game.
Both took 157 games to get to 100 wins.
Both got their 100th win against the Bills.

They will be back once the Steelers lose a game, with their lame fire Tomlin threads.

    Awesome.

From O.J. Simpson to LeSean McCoy, stuffing the run seems to be a Pittsburgh staple as good tasting as Buffalo dip in Buffalo. :rawk:

Or the team was in transition from being old and slow on defense, in the next few years the playoff wins will come.

I don't think people really hate Tomlin...we are a spoiled and passionate fan base and we are use to winning and when we don't win...**** rolls down hill and Tomlin be the head coach is on the receiving end of that.it's never easy being in charge, but when in charge take charge and be successful in that effort. If your not successful well you will hear about it.

Hate is an awfully strong word.

I am not sure why we aren't allowed to be critical of his teams' underwhelming performances against lesser opponents. As much as Tomlin has accomplished, he's also led a litany of on-field embarrassments. I kept giving him chance after chance, but the Miami defeat a few weeks ago put the nail in the coffin for me. The loss was one thing; but allowing Ben to go back out there on an injured knee proved to me, once and for all, that the man has no control over the team. Period.

Tomlin's situation is eerily similar to Dan Bylsma: we're told, "Hey all he does is win," and "He has a ring." But deep down, we all know the team isn't reaching its potential.

He has his faults that's for sure, but at what point do you realize you're just saying the same stuff over and over?

I think there are definitely people that literally hate him. Not saying anyone here does but just that in general there are some fans that do. After hearing me yell at the tv for years under him my wife is convinced that I do but I really don't. She was telling someone during the World Series when I was so mad at Joe Maddon for some stupid calls that even as angry as I was at him it didn't even touch some of my fits I've thrown on Tomlin over the years. She might be right but it was pretty dang close. LOL!

I know it sounds weird but everyone has their "thing" they're known for. Like if you were gonna be a Cowher hater you could say that he "couldn't win the big one" or "wasn't good at home in the playoffs" or even that his teams also "played down to their opponents" and honestly the only thing that would be able to make people stop saying that would be for him to stop doing that. I suppose if I were in the despising Tomlin camp I would just say "I will stop saying the same things over and over when he stops doing the same things over and over". There are just some people in sports that have certain things that they are "known for". Tomlin's thing among a lot of fans is his record against sub .500 teams. Even though he has a Super Bowl and has won a lot of playoff games there will still be people that will choose to see other facets and define him by those instead.

I get the questioning of some calls, time outs, etc. but, some of the comments on here are way out of line. The 49er fans have a reason to hate their coach. So do the fans of the Chargers, Rams, Jaguars...............but when your coach is 1-1 in SBs and has yet to have a losing season and you STILL hate him????????

Miami was 1-4 at the time. Had lost the previous week, at home, to the Titans and needed OT to beat the Browns. Since the Steeler win, they have been on a tear: but look at those wins. Not really a strong group.

The Steelers went down there, against a team that was reeling, and absolutely STUNK UP THE JOINT! It was a pathetic performance by a team considered a "contender." And, like I said, Ben had an injured knee...and talked his was back into the game. That knee needed surgery.

Who's running the team here? It seems to me, it isn't the man hired to run it and paid to run it.

More early success I know but for his age and to have 2 AFC Championships to his name is pretty dang good. Also there have been multiple times that we've went in to the playoffs severely hobbled and I think it's only in the name of fairness to point that out.

Seriously have you ever even watched football. The Eagles are awesome and I read another website that told me it and some other obscure stats and I came here to enlighten you to how smart I am when I quote information garnered from other places. Sorta like the Doris Kearns Goodwin of Steeler Nation. LOL!
