If you had your volume up, you could almost hear the *cha-ching* after each of his nearly 300 yards.

I agree they should pay Bell. He is a once in a lifetime. Brown will have none of that. He wants a monster contract. It could get ugly.

It could, but the team has all the power in those cases. He either plays or doesn't get paid and doesn't earn time towards free agency. Play or retire. Players have no loyalty to teams these days so there's no need to be loyal to players. It's a business

They promised AB he would get a new deal in the offseason, I'm not sure they can sign both Bell and AB to long-term deals in the offseason. Maybe if Bell took a 2-3 year deal, give him a decent signing bonus and a team friendly salary.

No doubt Bell will be resigned, but I think he owes the team and ownership a bit of a discount...seeing that he was suspended the last couple seasons for pot use.

The presence of Green is starting to open things up even more for bell. Buffalo was keeping both he and Brown bracketed and Bell ate them alive.

Yeah now if only Ben could actually complete a pass to him. LOL! (really dying inside though)

Why? That's the safest plan for the Steelers. He got caught with pot once and he missed a test. You win with players like bell. You don't get special talent like LeVeon often, you just don't. I think he's worth the risk.

No, he does not. If they sign him he owes it to them to never let it happen again. He doesn't owe a discount

Okay, I'm gonna be THAT GUY. We can't pay everybody. How long till he gets a year suspension for the drug policy. Also RB careers don't last as long as others.

True. I pay Bell before anyone else though. I'd let Villy walk, I'd let cockrell walk, I'd let Tuitt walk (that would be much more difficult than the other two btw) and I would've let DD walk in order to pay Bell (and in hindsight that might not have been a bad thing since DD has been our worst OLineman by a pretty good margin so far this year).

You Find a way to have enough money to sign AB, Bell, Shazier and Tuitt if you can. Everyone else on the list is expendable and replaceable. The four listed are more essential

They will pay him market value or he walks and the rats will be standing there with a contract in hand for about 50 mill...

Why would they not use the franchise tag on Bell if they can afford to do so, and sign Brown to an extension? Bell still gets a nice pay day, and the Steelers don't commit a ton of money to him long-term, given his injury and off-field issues.. As fluky as the injuries were, and as dumb as the off-field stuff was, they're still factors. Brown doesn't have those negating factors.. Also, the shelf life for WRs is longer than RBs. The cost to franchise tag a RB instead of a WR is also about $3mil cheaper.

I cant believe some of you want to give AB top 5 money at 70 million but you cringe at paying bell 45 mill when if he didnt miss the first 3 game this season he would be the leading rusher in the league right now, and by the way AB hasnt been getting a 100 yards in receiving for a while, how many backs out there are durable enough to have 38 carries for 236 yards, he's proven to me enough to give him a new contract and quit this crap, well he might get suspended again, or he might get injured again crap, pay the guy for what he is doing on the field and quit trying to be a cheap skate with our best player......

I believe those "big 3" of the day were surrounded by some pretty talented support staff now crowding the shelves in Canton. Talent-wise though - Jimmy raises a very good point about the 3 Amigos and their combined talent and potential career stats - minus the also needed support personnel.

with a young up and coming defense and bell who is young, the steelers could bounce back from Ben retiring fast if they find a good QB replacement.

Bell will be a Steeler in 2017 regardless. Either he will be franchised or signed to a long-term deal.

I wouldn't say too much credit to Bell, but certainly worth noting how Nix had a career game.

ok. all you salary cap gurus, I need some help. they say we are gonna be in great shape next year. seen something like 30 million under. I don't know if that is right.

can be pay brown, bell, and maybe lock up villuneuva and still have room.

I don't know what bell wants but I know running backs don't get what they use to. what kind of deal would make him one of the highest

So he and his agent "negotiated" on appeal the next failed drug test from a 10 game suspension down to 4??? :hmm:
