ok if it came down to it, who would you keep, bell or AB? how long can each stay at the level they are at with a big contract? we would have tons of money tied up on offense with the signing of these two, ben, pouncey and DD.

Try to keep both if you can.

If not, keep Brown and I suppose the Dalvin Cook or Christian McCaffrey hype will kick into full steam by then.

I'd prefer to keep both but I'd keep Brown because you'll know he will be available and of course, best WR in the league.

If Bell didn't have the off field issues, I might go with him, incredible dual threat weapon.

I would keep Bell...The main reason is the QB situation ...We have already seen the value of Brown without Ben, so with his career coming to a end it is probably time to move Brown and build the Defense ....I was a move up and get Peters and a move back up and get Collins guy...So Brown would command 1st. and 2nd. round picks , how good would this D be with 2 guys like that ? The 2 guys we would need would be Peppers from Michigan and Wilson from Florida....With those 2 this D would be back on top and we would only need to score 20 or so most of the time...We could do that with Bell and a game manager at QB...

Already had a decade of game managers under Cowher. 0 SB's. Lets not build a blueprint around that approach again.

Plus, the guys you mentioned moving up to get, are not a given to succeed.

Steelers FO needs to do what they can to keep them both. The defense is a long-term fix... ditching Brown to save money is not gonna fix the D overnight.

    YO
Well if we keep Brown then we must be looking for a real QB then...Can we find another Ben ? Even if we do is our D good enough to win it all ? When Ben played the big game in 2006 he had a QB rating of 22.3 ...So you can win with solid Defense and a good running game...Did we have a RB with the skill set of Bell during those years ?

Those 2 guys I just mentioned will be studs barring injury...We have no one on the roster that is even close to the talent these guys have...

Not ditch..Trade for his value..Which I believe is a 1st. and a 2nd. rounder...That would give us 2 1st. round picks and 2 second round picks if we can't hit at least 50% then KC should not be picking...

Even 1st rounders are crap shoots. I'd rather get a proven OLB and/or DE in free agency.... depending on whether they remain 3-4 base, or switch to 4-3.

The Steelers are due another "James Farrior" caliber FA signing on defense.

Tough call. I'd say keep Bell since hes several yrs younger, his game isnt dependent on who's QB, and the steelers seem to be great at drafting WR's.

That's tough. RB's have shorter careers than WR's do. Even though I think Bell might be the superior talent, I think I go with Brown simply because he would potentially have more years in the organization.

You don't think a Team should expect to hit on at least half of their early round picks ? Heck I have been mocking for at least 10 years and have 2 straight up wrong picks out of hundreds ...I don't have the staff nor the resources that KC does, so i do expect him to hit on early rounders ....

I would go with Brown. Bell is definitely elite, but it takes a long time to have the kind of cohesion (for lack of a better work) that Brown and Ben have. IMO they will both be on this team for awhile Brown will get his contract and Bell might get hit with the tag. Brown also seems to be a tad more durable and reliable than Bell.

if we had our 2008 defense, I think even with Landry Jones at QB and our offense now we would win the SB THIS year.

I don't see how weakening the offense benefits a team to draft unproven players. Your assertion that those two players will be studs is meaningless in the real world.

The defense is on the right path and Ben has 3 to 5 years left. That's our window. Weakening the team now is not a smart approach IMO.

I hope he has 3 to 5 , but it looks more like 1 to me ...Just say it is 1 which is my stance ,would you not think trading Brown would be smart then ? As I stated what we do know is Brown's value drops big time if Ben is not his QB ...When I watch Ben he just seems like a guy who is ready to give it up, I don't see the same fire or passion from him, his body is probably more banged up than we know.....

AB performs at a level that would be considered a home run for a top 5 overall pick. He is probably one of the top 10 overall football players in the NFL. You want to trade this All-Pro talent for a 50/50 chance to hit on 1st and 2nd round picks? Do you really think it's 50/50 that we'll find a top 10 overall NFL talent with one of those picks? Those players don't come along often. Really, there's an average of about one such player per draft. Not per first round, or per team, per draft - as in all 7 rounds, and all 32 teams. You want to jettison him for a chance to maybe find that one guy on the other side of the football.

    Again...

Bell. The Steeler organization is quite good at choosing good WRs evidenced by their track record. Bell can do both jobs.

That is a really tough choice. Good arguments for either one. I am just glad I don't have to make that decision. As a fan, I just have to live with it when it is made.
