the question is, could bud the stud and sackillo become a good duo for us? chick or bud would have to switch sides but they both bring a bigger player into the mix going forward. do you think these two could be our future at the position down the road:cool:?

It could be. It could not be. We have to see how Chickillo finishes out the year. In addition, we need to see how well Lawrence Timmons finishes out as well.

As unusual as that sounds considering Timmons is an ILB, in spite of his performance against Cleveland, Timmons' best days are truly behind him. Ryan Shazier needs an attack partner sooner rather than later. At the same time, Bud Dupree may in fact need one if Chickillo does not finish strong.

This new dynamic duo could be either inside or outside pending on if Pittsburgh elects to go more to a 4-3 defense next year or stay in their 3-4 setup.

Not seen a great deal of spectacular play yet from Chick but I see him having potential. He is not a finished product .. .Shazier is a beast if he can stay healthy .. Would really like to see what Bud can do. Is he playing against the Colts?

He won't get 15, but in the right scheme and at the right position, he could be a very good player. He was never the right guy for us. Drafting is like trying to force a square peg into a round hole. He isn't the guy he was drafted to be, so not sure why management though they could turn him into that guy

I am a little worried this, isn't Chickillo a FA after the year? If he finishes the year strong he may play his way out of here, right?

Yes I believe they will be the duo going forward. Maybe not this season but it is early yet. I like Chickillo's motor and he has a lot of upside.

No. Pittsburgh will resign him if he progresses. Heck, Chickillo will be resigned anyway considering both Harrison and Jones are likely gone.

It worries me cause if he plays well his price tag goes up and we know how the Steelers are in FA.......

I doubt Chickillo is going to ask for money currently. If anything, getting more production should be on his mind right now.

Well duh he won't ask for money now....I am talking about after the season. If he plays well his price will go up in FA, and we know the Steelers are not big spenders.

Pittsburgh will pay him if his performance allocates for the raise. Besides, I do not think Pittsburgh wants to lose a high effort guy like him. Those guys are not easy to find; round status regardless.

Chickillo won't be starting next year, so the answer to your question is no.

i'm not sure how you can say this at this point 6. bud played well last night and chickillo played pretty well this year so far even though it's been quietly. sort of like a heath miller style. he just does his job. it will be interesting to watch as bud gets more playing time. someone will have to go to the right side and i believe we saw some of that last night with bud.

Chick is only in his second year. After cutting him he signed a 1 year contract for $525k. He'll be an Exclusive Rights FA at the end of the year.

You think he decides to not take the contract and sit out?

What are you guys talking about? I think he's a little Mike Vrabel that they should try to hold onto. I had hopes he might be a Kevin Greene, but I'll take a Vrabel.

Here's a little food for thought from the East/West Shrine Game concerning a 4-3 look.

Ok so as an ERFA we have the chance to offer him a contract before anyone and he can reject it and become a FA and we get no compensation. With that said I watched the interview and I am impressed by this kid. I watched that game and he had a monster game, but I never knew anything about the 3-4 / 4-3 thing. So if we are looking to turn more into a 4-3 team he is a perfect fit however if we stay a 3-4 team you think he will stay here?

Kinda funny you mention Vrabel cause after you saying that I see it. I think he has all the same traits, I just hope we sign him and if not he don't follow in Vrabel's footsteps and end up being a very good player for the Cheats.

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT (UFA): A player whose contract has expired and has four or more tenured years in the league. He may sign with any other team with no restrictions. If a team loses more UFAs than it signs, they will be awarded "Compensatory Draft Picks" from the league. The value of the pick is determined by the difference of the contracts signed by the players lost and those acquired. If a team has signed an equal number or more UFAs than it has lost, no "Compensatory Picks" will be awarded.

EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FREE AGENT (ERFA): A player whose contract has expired and has three or fewer tenured years in the league. His original team must make a contract offer by the league imposed deadline or the player becomes an unrestricted free agent. No compensation is awarded for losing EFAs.

Your info isn't complete. If the team offers a 1 year EFRA tender, the player has to take it or not play NFL football. Under the CBA the teams hold all of the cards in free agency until the player accrues 4 seasons. Chick will be an ERFA in 2017, and an RFA in 2018.

Steelers will probably draft an OLB in first round in 2017... unless something crazy happens and they draft a QB. Need depth at both OLB and QB.

Too soon to predict Chicks future. Bud is doing well and will be a force. We need him and he has likely a long term career .. Optimisim
