The 2013 draft was lousy for 1st Round LB'ers. Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo and Alec Ogletree. The three of them combined this season have 0 sacks.

For sure, Ogletree moved to MLB and I'm not even sure if Mingo is starting for the Pats.

Ogletree only has 3.5 career sacks, seems that tree has more bark than bite......(I had to do it)

Ogletree is a 4-3 MLB, so rushing the passer is not his primary responsibility. Apples to oranges.

I alway felt Jarvis benefited as an OLB playing with a great college D line.

Good riddance JJ, you were no good from snap 1. Too slow, too stiff and too late.

Yeah, it was obvious pretty early with him that he has completely topped out as a player in college, I gave up on him middle of year 2, but the writing was in the was on the wall very early. The team has done what a lot of teams do with guys they have invested heavily in, they've showed patience and the reality is they've had no-one else much better.

I will say the last 4 first rounders we got 1 bust, 1 kamikaze glass statue, 1 hopeful pass rush savior, and 1 raw athlete looking to better himself

True Mac. I feel Moats would be a swing player if Dupree was healthy. Nice piece to have but not a starter.

I think there's some parallel between Shazier and Bell. Disagree fully on the JJ/Richardson comparison. JJ is a pretty good football player, he's just not the consistent edge guy we need him to be. I think he can be a solid starting SAM backer in a 4-3. Not 1st round worthy, but solid.

I used the word consistent about his edge capability because he has flashed edge rushing ability against some good tackles in recent years (including Joe Thomas and Nate Solder). It's just very infrequent.

I forgot about richardson, a 1st round bust drafted in the 91 draft at the 15 spot he played in 5 games but they couldnt find a position at LB he was good at, so they traded him for a 7th round pick in his second year, at least they didnt hang on to him for 4 years....

I think it was Merrill Hoge that said the Steelers realized Richardson didn't have "it" during his very first practice with the team.

They don't seem to be calling penalties on either team

He was the guy where the Steelers had 3 names for their first round pick, and they were all picked by the 3 teams in front of the Steelers. So they basically had to call a name before time ran out, and went with a 4-3 guy for their 3-4 defense.

I can't forget about him. Named my dog after him and the Steelers second round pick that year, Jeff Graham. Huey-Graham.
