I don't believe this is what is being argued.

AB said he didn't recall Tomlin saying anything to him about it after the game even though Tomlin said he talked with him about it. Hmmm? And the fact that AB didn't so much as look for somebody to lateral it to was the thing that didn't sit well with me. It was almost like "well I've added a good chunk of yards to my stats now let me go get my Dez jersey".

Also in an ideal world Rad would be on Blu-Ray too. :frustrated: Although I agree that your scenario would have been great as well. LOL!

Ben said Haley was in his ear screaming for him to not "waste a down" on the spike play. I figure Tomlin was in Haley's ear screaming "Don't spike it! Run it up the middle and then I will forget that we have timeouts!" LOL!

I didn't think it was that big of a deal, there was like 5 defenders waiting on him. If they wanted to keep the play going then they should've had another player trail him so he could lateral it.

If AB is getting called out for going out of bounds on that play there's got to be unrest in the locker room. There were at least 4-5 Cowboys closing in on him he wasn't going to score. I listened to Ben's interview and even he said guys were closing in on him. I think this is the most backlash Tomlin's gotten since being the Steelers coach. If it's true he was getting on AB about that play he's definitely feeling the heat and he's suppose to be the cool customer. When your teams going through a rough patch the coach is suppose to be the voice of reason not criticism. Hope that's just a rumor.

I know he wasn't going to score, but he could've kept the play alive even by fumbling. With no time on the clock and baring defensive penalty there is zero good reason to go out of bounds with the ball in your hands. Sure there were five Cowboys around, but maybe one of them kicks the fumbled ball and we grab it and run it in? Most likely the game is over, but AB robbed us of the chance to continue the play. I love AB and he's in no way the reason we lost, but he made a huge mental error there.

Haley says they talked to AB after the game and on Monday and Tuesday. They told him and others that the game can't end by going out of bounds. He said you gotta keep the ball in play and that other players were scrambling to get into position.
I'm thinking AB doesn't want to admit in public that he got his Azz chewed out.

I wonder if Tomlin also called out his "defense" for giving up 80yds in about 34 seconds to a rookie qb and rb and also giving up 35...and again to a rookie rb and rookie qb? I know he benched Jarvis but good grief that "defense" was hot garbage all over the field.

I don't understand the debate. There's no reason AB couldn't have just throw the ball backwards over his head. There's no downside to that at all. It would give us about a 0.1% chance of actually winning the game, but hey, it's still better than 0%. He didn't need to even look, just throw it backwards

He'd did and benching Jarvis was part of it.

Their line is the best at running and stopping the pressure while we are the worst at getting pressure. 35 could've been worse

Anything could have happened. One of the Cowboys could have pulled a Sean Davis and grabbed a facemask giving the Steelers another opportunity inside the red zone. One thing's for sure, when you run out of bounds, it's over.

    Exactly.

I suspect that their drill in practice is to get it to AB as the last player. Either that or AB saw that as his role. But if there are five guys around him then someone is free elsewhere on the field. No reason for him to step out at all.

Maybe he doesn't want to admit it, but I just wonder if Tomlin said something eloquently ambiguous like "you gotta fight for every blade of grass and every piece of dirt, AB" or something to that effect and it just went over AB's head. One thing I think I can say for certain as a 40+ year Steelers fan, if Chuck Noll or Bill Cowher had gotten in AB's grill after the game, he would have remembered it!

They were going to run the clock down by running the ball and then kick the FG. EE said the hole just opened up and he ran thru it.:eek::huh::mad::cry::cry:

In that interview He's bemoaning the fact that there were 3 guys on the other side of the field. In other words, he viewed everyone else as blockers for him.

Then he protests that he was trying to score. But that's the problem - he simply wasn't looking for a lateral.

Ah well. All done now I guess. I hope they run that drill a few more times in practice though.

Boomin! I mean at the end of the day that's all he cares about and this proved it. I've been cool with him doing it during games because it's kept him relatively healthy. But when it's the end of the game and you proudly run out of bounds as fast as you can and make no attempt, I just can' support that. It's the equivalent of at the end of the basketball game catching the ball 90 feet away and just holding it instead of taking the shot so you don't mess up your FG % something I can see AB doing because all he cares about is stats and keepin the business booooomin.
