Going for 2

Even with moving PATs back last yr, teams are still converting about 95%. It was something like 99.8% be before the rule change. I suppose the lower conversion rate on kicked PATs, might drive you to consider going for two more often. But the break even conversion rate on 2pt attempts has gone from about 50% to 47.5%. That's not a lot of difference, it's one additional successful attempt in 40 tries. Few teams try much more than 10 2pters a yr.

Edit: Over the last 10 yrs, only one team has made more than 10 2pt attempts in a season: the 2015 PGH Steelers. The 2nd most is 8. Both TB and Pitt lead the league this yr with 6 so far.
Both are on pace for to exceed 10 this yr, unless Sunday cools B&G enthusiasm for the 2pter.

I agree with going for it the second time after the first one failed but when that failed too, then just kick it and take the points heck they have tried kicking 60 yarders against the wind why it going for two everytime being a aggressive? Being Aggressive is going for the win not setting a new standard for futility and ridiculousness.

Well the way are season is going and the fact that we really can barely afford another lose would have been a good indication to Tomlin to just to kick extra points. If the tides were turned and we were 8-1, playing lights out, and beating everyone by 15 pts then I don't care, but we are not that team. I think we need to take all the pts we can get. IMO he is going to keep doing it. He does not take the fan pressure that well.

 

Ok also something I have been thinking about which right now the rate we are going we won't have to worry about this. If we do make the playoffs we are giving teams more footage as to what to look for. Maybe I am thinking to much but the more we go for two the more plays we show teams we may see in the playoffs. Again maybe I am putting the cart before the horse with talking playoffs but it is what it is.

Just think we kick every extra point the game would of been tied. So Elliot's TD would of sent it to OT. It doesn't matter now like Belichick says it's on to Cleveland.

My maths says if we kicked on all we'd have 34 - so Elliot's td would still win it.

The goal is to score as many points as you can. 2 is better than 1. 7 is better than 3. There are more numbers, but I just threw out a few familiar ones.

 

Sure, That is one way to look at it. I guess what i was getting at is we were the heavy underdog in that game, and we need to go up a TD. If that would have been the browns or the bills or the Rats, I would have been more OK with the call. We were playing the the best team in the NFL. Should have kicked the PAT.
