I would bet money that 11-5 wins division but what about 10-6. that would give us another loss. I figure as long as that isn't to the ravens we are still in good shape.

now that being said is there anyone else out there that think either one of these scenarios are likely?

if we can reel off wins against the browns, colts, and giants we are 7-5. then on the road against buffalo, and cincy. finish with balt and browns both at home

ravens have dallas, pats, cincy on the road with home games against the bengals, dolphins and eagles.

if we beat them I don't know the tie breaker since we split but I don't think they win out. I could see them losing 3 games at least. everyone they play are still playing for something and will probably stay in it till the end

I guess I am being very optimistic lol

I said before the Dallas game... 9-7 ceiling, 6-10 floor. It's now 8-8 ceiling, 6-10 floor with Heyward on IR.

I think 9-7 can win this division.

I'd rather it didn't, but it could...

The division is still very winnable, but we've got to turn the corner and take care of business. If we go 10-6 and win the rest of our division games, the only way that we can lose the division is if Baltimore ONLY loses to us the rest of the way and finishes 11-5. 9-7 is still tougher, but again the key is winning those final 4 division games in a 5-2 finish. Most realistic scenarios with a 9-7 finish and 5-1 division record favor us. The 4 division games mean pretty much everything.

    ugh why even win? lol

i guess making the playoffs... at least we see our team 1 more time. I can NEVER argue with that regardless if we go 1 and done.

I'd rather go 4-12 and get high draft picks, then send another average team to playoffs and loose

8-8 at best...will cause some concern for coach Tomlin's job
    10-6/11-5...will save his job

It's an age old argument and I can see the argument both ways. The draft is almost like a lottery anyway so sometimes picking first or last is a crap shoot although honestly I'm on the 4-12 side of the fence. Anyway it won't matter wher or who we pick if we don't clean up our own house first. Tomlin alluded to a lot of the things we have been touching on as far as accountability and preparation today. Now let's see if he can do whatever is necessary to fix it and quick or we need to go in another direction. What I don't like is that he keeps on talking about how games come down to a few plays here and there....I'm not of the belief that they need to...we have the talent to beat up on the teams we should but his style of playing those games close to the vest encourages teams to stick around with the belief they can pull a upset. Hate to keep comparing us to the pats because I can't stand them but I'm pretty sure they don't go into their games hoping the ball bounces their way at the end......why the F should we? I have a major problem with that way of thinking. I think that's our biggest problem and it affects how we go about our entire preparation...

I think it was in 09 (too lazy to look it up lol) we lost 5 in a row the 4th game, we lost it in las last seconds and our fifth loss was to... wait for it........ The 0-9 or 1-10 Browns  if we lose this game we'll probably end up 7-9

Division is winnable. Ravens got the toughest part of their schedule coming up; Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles, Bengals twice, and then us so we could decide our destiny. But honestly who cares? After finding out about Heyward. Have them make the playoffs and if lucky win 1 game and get stuck with another ****ty pick for nothing. It's over. Cowboys and Zeke running all over us with one of the best DE in the game. Now what? What's going to change? Seasons over.

    Think about this.

The Browns, at 0-10 still have a shot of winning the division.
How badly the AFC North has fallen this year?

I suspect 9-7 WILL win the division for the Steelers. It's hardly a stretch to think that Ravens lose @dal and @NE. A loss to PGH and the Ravens are at best 9-7, if they sweep Cincy. Cincy is 3-5-1, and will have to 6-1 to finish better than 9-7. Loss to Bal at home, and 9-7 will be very tough for Pit.

Can the Steelers go 5-2 to get to 9-7? You gotta wonder. Two losses out of @Buf, @Cin and @Indy is easy to imagine, they'd have sweep the rest to go 9-7.

A loss to Bal at home will be fatal. Bal would have the tiebreak, and the steelers would need to pick up 3 wins on Bal, in the remaining 6 games. Not too likely.

8-8 or 8-7-1 (from Cincy) could win the AFCN too.

But,if the Steelers go 10-6 or 11-5, they'll absolutely win the division. And pigs will fly in missing man formation over Heinz Field for the national anthem at the season finale on 1/1/17.

To answer the OP: I'm feeling like 10-6 is both what the Steelers can attain and a record they can win the division with.

On another note, I'm concerned about the defense being able up to keep up performances to support a 10-6 record without Cam Heyward. Also, the offense will have to be on fire for the rest of the season.

    11-5...10-6.....LOL!

Well 9-7 won't do it and that's where they are going to finish if they are lucky.

I just think it's sad that we're sitting here under .500 at the halfway point plus one talking about having to run the table to finish 11-5 or only losing one more game to finish 10-6 to somehow squeak by with the divisional title with all of the lofty expectations on this team pre-season. I'm mad at myself for buying into the hype. We should be running away with the division at this point and talking about competing for the number one seed. But here we are wasting away again in mediocreville! :frustrated:

I think the Ravens lose at least 4 more games. I think they lose at Dallas, at New England, here at Heinz Field on Christmas and at least once to the Bengals. So if we go 5-2 as long as one of the two losses isn't to the Ravens 9-7 wins this division that of course is assuming the Bengals also lose 2 more games. The Bengals remaining schedule is Buffalo at home, at Baltimore, Philly at home, at Cleveland, Steelers at home, at Houston, and home against Baltimore. There is a lot of winnable games there for the Bengals so I wouldn't count them out just yet.

I think the Steelers can get to 9-7 by winning the next 3 games against the Browns, Colts, and Giants, and beating the Ravens and Browns at home the last two weeks of the season. I think they can split the Bills and Bengals games on the road or even lose them both and still possibly be okay as long as the Bengals lose at least 2 more games which I feel they will along the way.

These next 2 games are very critical to win at Cleveland and at Indy. If they lose either one of these games they are gonna have a very hard time winning this division. The math will then become very difficult.

Injuries injuries injuries. I don't know if its just extreme bad luck or something else going on but injuries have sunk this team a lot recently.

well, my once unlimited perennial optimism is in the tank. I will say these things:

the other 3 teams in the division absolutely suck.

if the Steelers win those 4 division games- and go 5-1 in the division- then I bet they win it, even if they go 8-8 otherwise.

a playoff home game in round 1 is probably winnable against a low scoring team like Denver or KC

at the end of this season, one is probably going to be able to make a case for the firing of all 4 of the division's head coaches.

I say they go 6-1 down the stretch, and win the division at 10-6. Baltimore will lose at least 3-4 more games with that tough schedule. The Bengals are done IMO, especially if they lose 2 more games.
