    Giving up a 84 yarder on a 2nd and 18, and a 50 yarder on a 3rd and 11.

Unacceptable at any level of football.

We beat ourselves by leaving 7 points on the field, 4 points we left by going for two 4 times, and a missed FGoal, the 4 missed PATs is on tomlin, and the missed FG is on boswell, and that last minute meltdown that gave them a TD and facemask penalty is on the defense....

Thought we were supposed to stop the big play?

    Dez td
    Elliot 83 yd td
Then the td to win the game
The other td was allowed to get the ball back I believe

Right? And isn't that the job of the defense to stop great throws and a good RB??? I'm very confused here. So, if a team has a great RB, its ok if the D gives up 200+ yards to him?

Lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Too many draft picks that didn't pan out or didn't perform up to standards.

Not getting a new contract is the same thing as being fired. It's literally the same thing.

I hope not ...The problem has been the drafting ..We have drafted #2 and #3 CB'S trying to make them #1 CB'S ..We have drafted the 10th or so best Safety options and hope they can play like the top guys...We have drafted to many OLB'S early when we need DB'S ...

Look what Peters has done for KC he changes games and we could have went and got him ..Don't want to hear ,,maybe we couldn't find a partner crap ,we stayed went BPA knowing we needed a real starter it has happened draft after draft ...The BPA approach is a proven loser...

Not going to disagree with you on the talent we are drafting what I will disagree with it the thought of us trading up to get Peters after everyone has saw what he can do. My problem with that is when he was drafted he came with a lot of baggage(Suspended for one game in 2014 by head coach Chris Petersen for a sideline tantrum that followed personal foul penalty. Was ultimately dismissed from team over multiple run-ins with coaching staff) and we all know the Steelers don't draft guys with red flags. # guys went before Peters so it wasn't like we were the only ones scared of him. I will say he is a stud and I have not heard any bad things about this kid.

Another point is the defensive scheme, it is hard to draft when you don't know if your a 3-4 4-3 or hybrid. Not sure who is making the call on to the style we run but I feel it is hard for anyone to judge talent and fit if you don't know the system he is fitting into. Jmo

I think there is a lack of discipline.

I also believe the defensive scheme is probably not to blame and it is the players who are the problem. The young ones are not good enough yet, but if there is a lack of discipline, so that is on the coaches too.

We have too many plays where the defense totally breaks down and allows game changing big plays.

It is a shame we cannot seem to field a complete team or play like a complete team. A few weeks this year the offense was broken when we lost. This last game, the offense was on, but the defense was disorganized. This is all very frustrating and I`m sick of it.

You make some fair points , but we have took some chances on guys with character flaws before...I was looking strictly at the tape and he was hands down the best at the position, I was a move up and get him guy way before the draft ...The 2 CB'S that went before him are a lot better than what we have as well...It was the perfect situation to move up and get the talent we needed..Or move back and get a Safety, it's not that I hate the Bud pick , but we clearly needed DB'S and good ones...KC values LB'S to much and doesn't value DB'S enough...

PWP, I agree with you we did need DB help......bad and yes we have picked guys in the past with some kind of flaws but none that I can remember with this much flaws/baggage. Now I was a guy who has stuck up for Peters in the past because if you dig further into the story you can find out some interesting stuff. However if you forget what he has done in the NFL and go back to the 16 draft there were a lot of knocks on this kid:

Lacks patience in press and will open up early. Grabby off line of scrimmage and downfield when beaten. Average mirror-and-match and long speed. Overly emotional and prone to mental mistakes because of it. Slower than expected to squeeze routes in space. Doesn't take coaching.

"I wouldn't take him inside the first two rounds. He's good, but he's not that good that I would be willing to deal with his emotional issues." -- NFC personnel director

Talented cover cornerback with size, ball skills and the confidence NFL teams are looking for, but lacks the necessary discipline and maturity on the field and in practice. Peters has raw talent, but is far from a polished cornerback, and that is without taking the
    character concerns into consideration.

I have read on here from a few others that they are still mad we didn't trade up for him, the fact is he was not Steeler material at the time of the draft. Since the draft he has turned into the steal of the draft and a pretty damn good pro. It is very easy to look back and say we should have traded up, but very few knew what he was gonna do. Take a look at some of the guys the last few years that we could have traded up for and see you just don't know what your getting:

2013: Millner & Hayden(oak)....both not worth trading up
2014: Gilbert & Fuller........I wanted Fuller but injury has taken him down
2015: Waynes, Johnson, Peters.........not trading up for the other two and we have talked about Peters.

All I am saying is yes Peters has been a stud and I would have loved having him but there just was to much baggage and knocks on this kid and I understand why the Steelers passed. I do agree we have ignored this position for to long and it has showed. I do feel we are getting more talent now with Artie, Davis and Cockrell so we shall see.

First, Butler is NOT going to be fired in the middle of the season.

Second, if we don't fix the direction we are going and make the playoffs, Tomlin has NO choice but to evaluate the defense coaches. Lake, Butler, Porter, and Olsavsky all need to be looked at. The Dline is fine.

Lastly, I am beginning to think this is about scheme not the players. We are doing too many things...swapping out too many players all the time. Some guys just need to play off the snaps to get into a comfort zone.

Well, we have been going downhill on defense since he took over. Lakes, joey, and jerry has to go as well

We blame the coaches but my opinion is I blame the person who is choosing the system. I have no clue what we run anymore and I have said this before how can we draft when we don't know what kind of players we need. I feel Tomlin, Butler and Colbert need to sit down and get on the same page if it isn't to late....jmo.
