I look at it like this... It looks like a few players on d are not paying attention to details. It's either cause they need to be sat down or Butler is not getting these guys ready.

I thought the Steeler Defense was excellent today, they showed pre-snap looks, shifted to confuse Dak, played good coverage, tackled well, and got pressure all day, plus Shazier coming off the edge surprised me, he did that well, and Chickillo looks like a playa.

We got beat by a great RB in Elliot, and some great throws by Dak, and outstanding execution by the Pokes.

On offense we played just as good. Ben was on his game, receivers got separation, O line blocked well, but our run game was snuffed.

Dallas defense didn't look as good as the Steeler defense today.

Without Elliot we win this one by something like 30 - 13.

Great RB's can be game changers, and great Defenses get beat by them.

We got beat by a great RB, and some excellent execution by the Boys.

This! Exactly my thoughts! I've always hated the bend don't break philosophy!! How about we line up mano a mano and punch them in the mouth until they submit!

I think that we learned why Steeler Defense is so predictable today, we tried to play high IQ football today, and some guys were not up to the task.
Maybe thats why we look so vanilla week to week.
I think that if we continue to practice and play high IQ football on defense, guys that are slow learners will pick it up.

We got beat by a great RB today, same thing would have happen if Bo, OJ, Earl, Emit, Marcus, Barry, LaDamian, Tony, or Walter was out there.
    Today it was Zeke.

You young guys don't know about GREAT RB's because they were before your time. Older fans know what I'm talking about because they know who I'm talking about even tho I only used first names.

I was just explaining to my wife what happened today and just got myself even more worked up. I've been trying to not put as much stock in this but man I'm just too hyper competitive by nature to be able to let things like this go. We remember that great record Lebeau had against rookie qb's. Well today a ROOKIE. BACKUP. QB AAAAND rookie RB made this defense look idiotic. A rookie qb had an 83yd td pass to a rookie rb. A rookie qb also had a 50yd td pass. Not only that but a rookie, backup, qb went 80yds in a little over 30 seconds. ON. THE. ROAD. AGAINST. A. STEEELERS. DEFENSE. We are seriously a special kind of stupid sometimes. But I'm just gonna keep taking deep breaths and remembering this is all just a first world problem. Not helping much though. LOL!

I believe people are forgetting this.

Bud Dupree, Cameron Heyward and Ryan Shazier are really the only possible showstoppers on the defense and the rest are support pieces; not good especially with the lack of edge rushing help sans Anthonty Chickillo.

They are but I think a great Lebeau d would have shut them both down.

Well I may be considered an old timer now? I guess it's all relative. First Steeler RB I rooted for was Barry Foster when I was 11 or 12.

You can't tell me those last 2 scores by Elliot were "great" plays by him though. He came through those holes so clean only explanation is someone on Steelers effed up big time.

This might be unfair to Elliot but honestly Dallas generally has a great line and I really can't even judge how good their backs are because I just think of them as having a really dominant line. They also made Demarco Murray a ton of money too. Didn't they even make Darren McFadden look pretty good? You can really put Prescott, Romo, and even Aikman in this category of playing behind a great line but getting all the credit for it as far as I'm concerned.

He won't be going nowhere, I am as just as disappointed in the team as everybody else.
We can't seem to find the defensive playmakers (Shazier) but the rest of the defense is
so so. We need more defensive playmakers. I preferred the type of attack approach the Steelers
played today, we just didn't get it done today. Couldn't stop the run and stupid penalties sealed
the deal. I knew Artie Burns and Sean Davis would need coached up. But by week 10 they should really
becoming into their own? I am truly disappointed in this team, had higher hopes.

LeBeau resigned, I really believe it was cause of what we are seeing. What I mean is he wanted to coach one way and Tomlin wanted to take the team in another direction.....this is purely JMO!

I'm resigning this position, not retiring," LeBeau, 77, told the Urbana Daily Citizen. "I had a great run in Pittsburgh. I'm grateful for all the things that have happened to me and thankful for all the support I had in Pittsburgh.

He resigned because they told him they wouldn't be renewing his contract. That's essentially firing him.

to me the defense is just hard to figure. is it the players, coaches , or both? what I mean is, for about 3 quarters of every game, except phillly, they have played well enough to win. yesterday included. then the wheels come off. dallas had 2 big plays and that was it. until it mattered. then they act lost. the formation on 3rd down where the coaches called a timeout they were running around like nobody knew what to do. I seen Harrison leave the left side and come 8 yards off to the right side?

the only play they looked like they knew what they were doing in the 4th was the play they let Elliot score. lack of turnovers and sacks is killing this team. I am also starting to think we need to examine moving shazier. he cant hold up in the middle. I like him and he is an exceptional athlete but he got abused yesterday. even on his blitzes he got stoned. maybe switch the 2. blitz Timmons more and use shazier in coverage. hell, I am just grasping straws but something has to change

I am not saying they weren't pushing him to go but he left on his own, the Rooneys wouldn't do that to him. DL done a lot here with this team over his time here and the Rooneys know that, yeah they probably told him he wasn't getting a new contract but he wasn't fired.

I wouldn't call him a scapegoat, I'd call him a contributing factor. A scapegoat is a a person or group made to bear the blame for others. As the defensive coordinator, he has the responsibility for the entire defense with Tomlin's approval. Yes, he has position coaches responsible for line, linebacker and DB play but he is ultimately responsible for how that defense performs and he is not getting it done so in my opinion he is no scapegoat nor is he the sole factor.
