in cobi hamilton and eli rogers this week. i have spoke of hamilton being a guy that will contribute this year. now is the time for ben to trust in this kid. he's got a huge catch radius, speed and size and is a good blocker. he could be a difference maker in this game. he and rogers could help free up bell, AB and coates if ben makes the cowgirls have to cover and watch for these guys. ben has to make them meaningful targets. do this and we win this game.

I agree. Steelers Depot did a nice 30 minute video on the Ravens game and dispelled the notion that Haley's play calling was the killer Sunday. It was Ben's decision making first and foremost.

Agreed. Ben was terrible in that game.

Bad mentally and (I think) physically as well. It looked to me like he wasn't planting and driving off his foot well. Double whammy.

The killer is that he left a ton of easy underneath throws on the field and kept on trying to zip it 15-20 yards downfield into double coverage.

They have to see that in practice?
If he's that ineffective you'd think they'd try something different.
I know he was looking better in the 4th qtr, but I'm guessing that may have more to do with the Ravens coverage than Ben suddenly getting his head straight?

Just watched that - very interesting. Also hadn't noticed how bad Jessie James played.

Probably a bit of both. Also, after 3 quarters of football he may have been more comfortable pushing the knee - or adrenaline overruled any discomfort.

Yeah, he spent some time on the ground Sunday. I think he's blossoming into a decent #2 TE, but he has a long way to go to be anything more than that IMO. I think he can, but he needs a lot of work.

bens game was about him practicing fully with these wide receivers as i have mentioned before. he was practicing partly and rehabbing partly which isn't a good combo for him as in the past. he tends to try and go to whom he is comfortable with which is AB and bell. this is the reason of this thread really, he has to trust in these other guys on game day and trust he can make the throws to them also, which comes in practice with these guys.

ben can sometimes be his own worst enemy when it comes to playing after injury and not fully practicing. it's not that he doesn't know the game plan but timing is off which sends him to what he's most familiar with. we still have studs on this team that can get it done, he has to trust and use them. this hamilton kid was a good find for us this year and i hope they build on what he can do for this team. he equals more weapons to cover.

Ben sure had Eli open a few times early in the Ravens game, but he had to force throws to AB to keep him happy

That is BS and you know it. Top level QB like Ben would not care to build AB stats . He is a professional . Sheesh

By the same token a top level Coach who is trying to win football games and ultimately a championship shouldn't put his franchise QB in a situation where he was less than ready to play football. However in this case they both have blindspots in what is best for the team despite all the verbal protests to the contrary. You spend the bye week preparing for Landry Jones and change directions because Ben feels good. It was a recipe for a less than stellar performance.

Mac, it all goes back to preperation, both players and coaches. The coaches have to prepare
the players to succeed and play inspired football. Our staff can't seem to do this on a consistent basis
and our players don't seem to want to be great (Save AB) Shazier could be great, body can't take it though.
Play inspired football put on your thinking caps and go play ball. Have fun playing, our guys don't seem to have fun.

Hopefully Green plays today. .This will indeed be a difference maker.. If they have to cover Green as well as AB it might make for some interesting football.

I honestly think the team split reps between Roethlisberger and Jones, and they decided on Sunday that #7 gave them the best chance of winning. He has the better rapport with the offense (both his targets and the rest of the guys), he wasn't immobile (as opposed to that cringe-inducing SF game), and he wasn't defenseless out there.

What kills me, is that everyone was saying that Ben was looking great in practice and had really good throws. Then he get in the game and wtf?!

Not sure what to think of that.....should of been looking for that for years from both of them. The head scratching around here is starting to become the norm. Someone......anyone needs to right the ship and right quick.
