Face it people, we are too predictable to win another game this year.

You can't be predictable and expect to win a game or a war. That's why you have huddles - secrecy.

I could watch a game with anyone in this forum and predict every offensive and defensive set.

In fact, I can tell you right now.

On every offensive play, we will have a single back set, one TE, and 3 Wide Receivers.
80% of the snaps Ben will be in shotgun and throw. Maybe 20% will be a Bell run.
When under center 80% of the time Bell will run the ball. Maybe 20% will be play action pass.
Don't worry about seeing any crossing routes or drag routes, Ben can't make those throws.

On every Defensive play Steelers will have 3 down linemen, an edge rush OLB on the ends outside the tackles, and 4 DB's, unless a MLB comes out and we send in a nickel.

No need to prepare for Offensive 2 back sets, 2 TE sets, 4 wide sets, or 5 wide sets by Steeler offense.

No need to prepare for defensive line stunts, 4 man fronts, LB wraparound blitz, 3 deep zone, or corner blitz.

No disguises, fake fronts or pre-snap shifts.

Yep, I can tell you what you are going to see before they break the huddle on every offensive and defensive play. And I can tell you the play on pre-snap read.

That's more intimidating than the Steeler blitz.

As a minor point of interest, officially, the Steelers have used the shotgun on 68% of their offensive plays so far.

Slightly higher than the league average, but not too much higher - most likely because our QB is not as mobile as the younger QBs.

I think we can win a few ,but not many .On the bright side we may get a top 10 pick , so the scouts need to be scouting hard right now...

The NFL has transitioned heavily to the shotgun over the last 15 years:

    From SB Nation:
And never mind that the majority of passes thrown in the NFL are thrown out of the shotgun. Football Outsiders explain how you might have missed the trend to the shotgun if you had been asleep for the last 15 years.

In 2001, NFL teams only used Shotgun on 14 percent of plays. Five years later, in 2006, that had increased slightly, to 20 percent of plays. Shotgun usage has risen steadily since then, shattering the halfway point in 2013 (when NFL teams used Shotgun 59 percent of the time) and then creeping over the 60 percent threshold in 2014. Before 2007, no team had ever used Shotgun on more than half its offensive plays. In 2014, 26 different teams used Shotgun over 50 percent of the time, led by Philadelphia which used Shotgun on an NFL-record 86 percent of plays.

Yep converting to more spread, pistol, zone read type of stuff...I was a part of similar transition in the 90's.. The HS teams where going to that then and the type of Defenders and the style of Defense had to change ....As I have been stating the Steelers are late to the party ... They needed a true #1 CB years ago..They needed rangy SS,FS types that play great in space and take great angles to the ball or the ball carrier...They needed more guys who can beat there man 1 on 1 upfront in multiple ways ....KC has dropped the ball and has left us with a Defense that really can't compete on a weekly basis even if perfectly healthy...

You can buy into the doom and gloom stuff or you can accept that this team goes as Ben goes.

    4-1 before he got hurt.

3 game losing streak and 4-4 after he got hurt.

Yeah, there was a lot of ugly in the Ravens game but good Ben could have covered a lot of that up.

STOP! You can say this about any NFL team, and how they operate. It's up to the team to execute, and the other side to stop them, and vice versa. Green will fall play this week, and that should open up lanes for Coates and Rogers, or DHB and Wheston if they play? Bottom line, there are 8 games left, and this team is too talented to not win another game. That's just insane talk!

What a bipolar board we are...

Crushed by Philly - The world is ending. We suck.

Beat the snot out of KC - Super Bowl bound.

Embarrassed by Baltimore - We suck more than the Browns. Let's lose all our remaining games and get a high draft pick.

I say we beat Dallas and roll from there. I'm still hopeful for a deep run in the playoffs.

Try to stay on the half-full side of things people. Keep the faith and keep cheering your a**es off.

Well, we DO have the Browns on the schedule twice yet, so there is hope. But we are so predictable and easy to game-plan for, that even the Browns will be trouble.

Besides being too predictable, we also have a serious lack of talent on this roster.

The fix is ominous, we have to draft 7 guys who can stick and start next year, pick up a good FA or two, and find a few gems on the waiver wire next year. Or it could be a long long playoff drought, to say nothing about a SB.

Right now we are bad tacklers, physically weak, can't get after the QB, can't stop the run, can't cover, predictable, and lack depth.

Without a pass rusher or elite corner, we should be playing a 4-3, and maybe a 46. That fits the personnel.
GET 4 HORSES AFTER THE QB, AND GANG COVER WITH 5 OR 6 DB'S, AND JUST USE 1 OR 2 LB'S - MAYBE SHAZIER AND TIMMONS, AND GIVE THEM A BLOW WITH DUPREE AND MOATS.
MAYBE JUST USE 1 LB, THE BEST TACKLER. AND 6 DB'S.

On Offense why use 3 WR's if only one is being productive? Use a 2 back set, 1 TE, and 2 WR's. DO WE EVEN HAVE A FB?
