Ideally this is the way to go, but he and his agent will not go for it. Someone like Miami or Detroit or Cleveland or some other team with a notoriously bad front office will offer him $12M+ a year no strings attached.

Maybe we can tag him with the non-exclusive franchise option and one of them will be dumb enough to surrender two #1 picks for him.

All that money that was going to Bell can help the defense.

so do most tackles. they like AV. he's doing a good job and we have a nice pipeline behind him when they get up to speed and healthy. even mihalick played well in preseason. give he, AV, dawkins and harris time under munch and we have a nice group of tackles here.

The Steelers will probably get some compensatory picks in 2017, so they could have 9 picks. They most likely draft a RB, Bell isn't signed longterm D Will is old and his contract expires. If a stud QB is available draft him and develop him, they always draft a WR Bryant can't stay off the weed AB contract status isn't resolved. They could still use at least 3 picks on offense.

 

I'm not buying it, I think Munchak will develop Jerald Hawkins to be the future LT.

 

IMO A.V. is just a stop gab at LT.
