Alright guys, here we are in the second half of the season of the season. As this season winds down, who has impressed you the most and disappointed you the most thus far this season?

As per usual, I will have my picks soon.

    Impressed... Sammie Coates.

    Disappointed... Decastro has struggled.

Overall it's the defense though, it's just all around terrible.

Have you been talking to Mac? We still have one more game before we get to the halfway point.

Like the wise man above inferred, ask this question when we actually are at the midpoint of the season.

Although, I suspect answers won't change. I'm just a nit picker for accuracy.

To be precise, ask at 2:42:30 pm on next Wednesday.

To listen to some out here, you'd think we've already been eliminated.

Hard to understand what enjoyment some get out of being a fan of this team.

Dude the purpose of this board is to VENT!

It doesn't mean we don't like the Steelers.

Fan is short for fanatical .... People who are fanatical are gonna let you know their opinion good, bad or indifferent, and that is ... OK.

? I never had alluded to that fact at all. I am only making this due to the fact that we are approaching the midway point and wanted to see others opinions on the matter.

Impressed: I'll go with Cockerill. Especially given the assessments he was getting pre-season.
Jesse James has also lived up to expectations. A work in progress, yes, and obviously no Heath - but still getting the job done.

Disappointed: A lot of inconsistency makes it difficult to identify one guy. Decastro is the obvious one.

No problem. I'm sure you've seen some of the dire predictions expressed despite the fact that we're currently alone in 1st place in the division.

Well, the purpose of the board is to talk about the Steelers. For some that means venting, but venting is not the purpose of the board. I agree that just because someone complains or vents, it doesn't mean that they're not fans. As long as the venting doesn't progress to the point where it becomes trolling that impairs other members' enjoyment of the site, I have no problem with it. Nothing wrong with a little bit of debate between the doomsayers and the optimists

As long as the debate doesn't degenerate to personal attacks.

Well.. the AFC is like the BCS. With that said, we are far behind the Patriots and Raiders right now. Based on the results of the last 7 games... the Steelers not consistent enough, on either side of the ball, to win more than one playoff game. IMO, they will be lucky to make the playoffs this year. I can see either Bengals or Ravens closing the gap, starting Sunday. The Steelers were not even competitive in the 2nd half of the Eagles and Dolphins games... and they were clearly outmatched by the Patriots at home.

PFF has him basically rated the same has Heyward - 79.8 vs. 80.2. The problem is that they're alone out there with substandard OLBs who are easily blocked by one man.

With the exception of Dupree this is the same group we had last year. Tuitt is getting no pressure up the middle. Heyward has been playing injured the entire year.

Impressed - DHB has been a pleasant surprise to counter Wheaton's disappointment although a lot of MW's issues have been injury related
Finney and Hubbard were very impressive in their starting opportunities.
I always liked Cockrell but he has made some strides this year from last.
    Berry is doing great.

Disappointed - Shazier is just injured way too much, I know that's not quite fair to ding him for, but come on.
Tuitt needs to get to the QB.

Still undecided as far as I know. I don't think they have taken him off the PUP either yet.

Cockrel came out of nowhere and has really impressed me. JJ has impressed as well.

I have to say L Green. I no he hasn't played but i was really looking forward to seeing what the offense was going to be like with him in. I just figured that he was good to go being he signed for 20 mills. But the player that has actually played and disappointed in Mike MItchell. I thought he would be a bit more of a hawk but really seems like he is late to the receiver/ball on a lot of occasions.

Surprise: Coates. Don't miss Bryant at all.

Disappointment: Shazier: Undisciplined, bad angles, no splash plays, and hurt again.

I doubt he plays. I think you we see him the following week for sure though. I think they are still wanting to get him in game shape.
