It's not about "bulletin board material" and "firing up players", it's about coaches taking the game seriously enough that they develop serious game plans.

Not just the "keep it safe, try not to lose" game plans that we see against bottom feeders.

WOW, only 7 points? That would mean a competitive game. I don`t see it unless NE has a bad day. If they play their normal game I expect a 3 score differential (17 points or more).

I'll bite. You're an optimist. This felt like a game we'd need to have a perfect offensive day to win or keep close. I'm not willing to completely write off Jones doing a serviceable job for a couple games (even THIS one), but I'm afraid the Gumby defense (bend but don't break) won't work well against Brady. You start bending, and before you know it, the Pats are already kicking off to you again. The Vegas lines are usually pretty good at getting equal money on both sides, but I think I'd need to see 14.5 on the line before I'd start thinking we'd cover. Although I like YOUR optimism better....

 

figured it'd be something like that. I couldn't see any "experts" picking us realistically with Jones under center.

 

Yeah, this will be one of those when we play bend/don't break and still break, multiple times.
