I have Sunday ticket and see teams play like the Steelers do every week. Somebody has to lose, not too many teams look pretty when they lose.

I have no idea why the Steelers seem to save their worst football for sub .500 teams but today was largely due to injuries.

I agree. Then there's R2D2 C3PO out there making his lists, checking them twice, and trying to tell us who is naughty and nice. :lolol:

When I was ranting and raving about the Cubs tonight my wife was like "You just act like people should never lose and don't realize that someone has to lose". She's actually wrong. Losing is one thing. I get that. What ticks me off is when my teams come out and look like complete freaking bums that don't belong on the field with the team that's dominating them. I despise losing and I mean I hate it like cancer. But what I hate even MORE is losing with no passion whatsoever. Losses that make it look like my team doesn't even care are the ones that get under my skin.

Settle down. The Cubs were facing Clayton Kershaw. There is nothing wrong with a 1-0 loss in that situation. It was a great game.

Too bad that game wasn't played in Pittsburgh in late December. We'd have pummeled those guys in a Pittsburgh snowstorm...oh wait a minute.

It wasn't "that situation" that made me mad. It was an accumulation of watching Rizzo, Russell, Heyward, Soler, and about half the lineup look completely deflated and stupid. Rizzo is like 1-22 and Russell is 0-20. I expect more from All Stars. Yes the strike zone was 8ft wide for Kershaw but it's just annoying to watch my team not show up when they need to. The Steelers do it from time to time as well.

To me it's not who they lose too, it's how they look losing.

If this was one bad game or even one bad season sure you could point the finger at the players. Maybe Ben's lost it. Maybe our O-line has lost it. Maybe our WR's can no longer run routes or catch balls? I'm kinda not believing that. Isn't the trick to being a good coach getting your players to buy into your system and keep them focused to do what they've been coached to do...and do it with consistency? Isn't that what differentiates good coaches from bad? The coordinators do what the HC directs them to do OR allows them to do. Look at the top 10 teams in the NFL right now. Do you really think the coordinators are running the show on those teams and the HC is just a figure head? Many in Pittsburgh seem to think that's the case with the steelers. Maybe that was the case during Tomlin's first few seasons, but not now. The last 5-6 years this is 100% his team. Take the good with the bad.

It's the post-season. The pitchers ratchet things up a notch. There is greater scrutiny paid to scouting reports and film study. I am not surprised that Rizzo is struggling. It's not all on him; the pitching has just been outstanding. But you're right: he's starting to press, like Barry Bonds used to.

Also it doesn't help a struggling hitter when umps are calling things strikes that are about 14ft inside. As long as we don't have to face Kershaw again we could be good though. I will say though that sometimes I get as mad at Maddon as I do Tomlin. LOL!

pats next week with landry and then after bye at baltimore... at this point those are both games we could easily lose without ben... thats 4-4 and 1-1 in division.

Game planning would be the other important aspect of coaching. Exploit their weaknesses and be prepared / anticipate what they will do to you. I think the Patriots are maybe the best team at exploiting weaknesses as any in the league. They are also the best team in the league at executing the called plays with consistency. They are prepared. Sure they have bad games here and there. Maybe even a bad season here and there. But they are consistently competitive and usually beat the teams they should beat. I believe Bellicheat wins about 80% of his games vs teams with losing records.

Beating OR NOT beating teams with inferior talent points directly at the HC. Either that or we have a bad QB with little talent around him. There are teams far less talented in the NFL winning games. This is a QB league now and has been for about 8-10 years when the NFL changed up the rules and enforcement. Mediocre defenses can win SB's now. Look at the top QB's in the league. The majority of them will be in the playoffs.

We've been losing to lesser talent for 6 years now. The stats prove this. We were not prepared. We did not try to exploit their weaknesses. (16 carries by bell? ) and we did not execute. Either our players suck OR the head coach isn't getting it done, or both. I think we've got some talent issues at LB. We lack depth on the DLline. There isn't a team in the league that doesn't have talent issues at some positions. The key in today's NFL is your QB and your O-line. If you have a great QB, a good O-line, and a couple offensive weapons to help, you should be a playoff team. If you have this plus a couple good playmakers on defense you should be a SB contender. We clearly lack play makers on defense. But we are good enough to beat most teams. Which has been the case for 6 years running. If the Dolphin's loss was a fluke thing.. I'd have no issue with the coaching staff. Problem is this is a trend. You have to point the finger at the coaching staff.

I like many of our coaches so I'm a little miffed my self. I think Butler desperately needs pass rushers. Just 2 good pass rushers IMO would fix most of our defensive problems. I think our O-line coach is a good one. I don't know why the line isn't getting it done. Our Rb's are awesome. Our WR's are as good as any in the league. I think our QB is a top 5 QB. I think our game planning offensively is horrible. I think we are predictable. We are overly arrogant on offense. We think we can just do what we do.."go ahead and try to stop us" and defenses will fail. We don't set them (defenses) up to fail against our offense. Why not put that talent in the best position for success? Another huge red flag for Tomlin and his staff... players are starting to make negative comments. Ben and Brown just this past week.

Oh and BTW...these players are Tomlin's players. If you don't like the talent we have... who's responsible for that? The FO scouts, the HC tells them what he wants for his system. It's a collaborative effort but it still lands on the bosses shoulders. Tomlin needs to win playoff games this year - PERIOD. Last season - we were gifted a playoff spot by the Jets - we should not have even been in the playoffs. THEN the Bengals gift wrapped us a win.. they had us beat.

he was hurt on the play he threw the pick. No excuse though. Best running back in the game and one of the better blocking lines in the game against one of the worst rush defenses in the game translates to pass first run second? there is no excuse for leveon to run the ball 10 times...

if this is only a QB driven league then why have the last two out of three superbowl champions won by running the ball and playing defense... It is important to have that passing attack but having no defense wont get us very far in playoffs if offense has an off game.

I don't think Kershaw will be available again until a game 6, possibly a game 7. The problem for the Dodgers is that they just do not have the starting pitching to keep up with Cubs. The Cubs will likely go back to Chicago up 3-2.

Cam Newton and Peyton Manning are not exactly chumps.

2015 playoff QB's = Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Carson Palmer, Russell Wilson, Roethlisburger etc. There are no BAD qb's winning in the playoffs unless you are playing the steelers. Maybe some mediocre one's from time to time...but the team that can win with a bad QB is not the norm. Teams that have good qb's typically win playoff games. Sure there are exceptions to every rule but this fact has been proven if you look at the last 10 years of playoff teams. I'm not saying you need the best QB in the NFL. You just need a good qb. AND if you do have that.. then you damn well better be in the playoffs more often then not.

I don't know whose fault it is and I actually don't care. I just want it fixed. I am so sick of losing to bad teams - and losing big. Giving up 200+ yards to their RB?? Do we not know how to make adjustments?? Once it was obvious he was the guy, why the hell do we just continue watch him get the ball and run through our DL? There has to be an adjustment to be made for that.

We couldn't stop their passing game either so we couldn't ignore the passing game to stop the run. The front 7 needed to stop him.
