Yeah it's becoming a realization that he just don't have the nasty to go with his supposed talent.

Its a shame. Coaches can't seem to motivate him? his career won't be going too much longer
with the PGH Steelers. C'mon big Dan before it's too late

Is that what's been said? I hadn't heard that, but may have missed something.

McCullers has 6 tackles and 1/2 sack going into his 3rd season. If he is going to turn the corner he better do it soon.

    He simply doesn't have talent.
    Size is not a talent.

It's not an issue of motivation. It's an issue of his size making it difficult to execute. He doesn't have the athletics to win with leverage, and his size makes his hand technique sloppy.

He's a spacial plug, and that type of player is largely irrelevant in today's game.

They need to move him to Offensive line. At least give him a shot at something else.

His issues of playing with leverage and hand tech are not going to be hidden on the other side of the ball.

That was what people said about him here in Knoxville. Big dude that was just considered lazy. I just look at him as another project player that didn't pan out. Sorta like a big Rainey or Archer. Or a REALLLLLY big Rainey or Archer.

Why not try him at safety?

    His T-Step and Quick-Step breaks are sub-par.

Shocker. A late 6th round pick that didn't work out. It's not like he's Jarvis Jones.

If he had the desire and a mean streak the rest would fall into place. He just doesn't have the IT that makes the techie fundamentals unnecessary like other freaks that have broke thru.

I'd make him the long snapper... Ain't no one blocking a kick up the middle hahahahaha... Damn that leverage science! Damn it all to hell!!!

To be fair, in his last three years here, Casey Hampton had one sack. Between '04 and '07 he had the grand total of 1/2 sack.

Stats are unlikely to tell the story for the particular role McCullers plays on the team.

That said, I do agree with @RPO IZSB@RPO IZSB - his technique isn't great, and his size can be a disadvantage rather than a strength. He can drive linemen backwards, but struggles to separate and make the tackle. He's never going to be a superstar. The question is who his competition is to be Hargrave's back-up.

I really thought McCullers would have had a better showing this year. Keep pushing there shade tree. He still has a role on goal line and heavy formations. If his ceiling is a situational player then so be it, but I hope he does it well.
