SB 40 got me into the Steelers. Been an addict since. Other than Cleveland Browns type ineptitude ( Unlikely), I'll be a fan long term. So how did the rest of y'all become fans of the black & gold? What would make you cheer for another team/ and or give up tickets?

You see when a mommy Steelers fan loves a daddy Steelers fan...

Born and grew-up in a small town about 2 hrs north of Pittsburgh. I know nothing else nor would I want to.

SB X, nickel bet. I was a kid and my older brother who is a diehard Dallas fan wanted to bet me they'd beat the Steelers. Went to my dad and asked him and he looks at me very confidently and says, "take the Steelers".

Fan ever since. By the way, beat him again 3 years later :lolol:

Dad had a season ticket for 54 years. Mom didn't make it that long before passing. I'm guessing it was genetics. I'm on my 47th season.

Seems from most responses Steelers fandom started early for us all. Meaning no fair weather fans. Anyone have their tickets passed down to them?

It was SB 13- they beat the Cowboys! I was a Broncos fan for SB12 when they lost to the Cowboys. So I figured the team that could beat "America's team" was the team for me. That was '79. They have been my team ever since.

Yes - Gilliam was the first black QB to start for an NFL team. He actually beat out Bradshaw for the starting position. Back then the QB called the plays and Noll didn't like him calling so many pass plays so he benched him. It was said he had some drug issues too. If things would have been a little different, Gilliam could have had the 4 SB rings instead of Bradshaw.

Born and raised in PA. My dad is a huge Steeler fan. Grew up watching Greg Lloyd, the Bus, Thigpen, Kordell Stewart, and Levon Kirkland. I can remember listening to Steelers pre game on the radio before turning the game on, one of my fondest memories. I would also say Bill Hillgrove is the greatest play-by-play announcer of all time.

Also have to add that NFL films was huge in shaping my passion for football and Steelers.

Didn't grow up in Pennsylvania, so didn't get to see a lot of Steelers games, those films were my only source, loved them. The music, that voice, pure awesomeness.

'cause the Chargers traded Bob Babich to the Browns! I couldn't bring myself to root for that sad franchise so..........I liked the defense of the 70's teams and the uniform colors! That was so long ago that I'm not a bandwagon fan, I'm a covered wagon fan!

Mom was a steelers fan, brothers are steelers fans, my dad doesn't watch pro football, thinks they are overpaid bums. Mom lived and died it. My dad is terrible mojo, I swear if he watches the game, steelers play terrible. I swore he must have watched it last Sunday, but he told me he didn't.

I always liked our heritage and history. 3 coaches in 48 years. One family since 1933. We have the most famous football play in history. Love pretty much everything, it's in the blood.

Hello everyone. Here's my story. I started watching football in 1979 when I was 12 years old. I started off with two favorite teams, one from the AFC (Steelers) and one from the NFC (Rams). I figured I had two chances of getting to the Super Bowl. Everybody knows what happened that year, they both made the Super Bowl and I was forced to choose one. The obvious choice for me was Pittsburgh, I liked their uniforms better and their style of play. Besides, I was surrounded by Cowboys fans here in Texas that hated the Steelers. The Steelers beat the Rams, and I have been a fan since.

Grew up outside of Cleveland, but Mom was a Steelers fan as she grew up in Erie PA. Franco Harris was my favorite back then, wore that jersey until the numbers fell off.

Mom and dad bought season tickets when they came back from WW2. When 3 rivers opened they went from 2 tickets to 4 and started taking my brother and I. Parents are gone and we split the tickets 2 and 2.
