Lots of "Steeler" fans on here, but not many "football" fans. Every call that went against us didn't matter. Literally every bad call, didn't matter (pass interference X 2, followed by a TD not called) and intervene on Dansby (TD by Williams).

Losers of the game: Refs. I still have no idea what the team is because this win does have a *. Anyone who days otherwise truly has the Steeler glasses on. Do we really have a defense? How does AB get shutdown by Bengals so easily? What happens if the Boyd play is called accurately?

Winners: Shazier had a great game and so did Jesse James. He missed one catch that Ben had to have thrown in an area only LeBron James would catch. As for Shazier, he was associated with every + except the one in the end the refs messed up...
    It wasn't a fumble....

I'm going to give the absolute definitive answer about what would have happened if the Boyd play hadn't been called a fumble. The Bengals would have got a first down. That's the answer. Now another question. Do you get 8 points for first downs?

You can't just throw out every missed call on the Steelers saying it didn't matter....and then say What happens if the Bengals call is called accurately.....If the missed calls don't matter...they don't matter for either team.

The Steelers got the W....the Bengals got the L....all because of what happened in the game....that includes the refs.

I've already answered what would have happened if they had overturned the call anyway. They would have been guaranteed a first down. I've yet to hear anyone tell me if first downs are worth 8 points. I was thinking to get 8 points you had to do a little more than take the obvious underneath stuff. Maybe it's just me though.

Exactly. A first down is nothing when you look at how our defense was playing. They gave up too many yards through the air once again but does it really matter so long as you keep them out of the end zone and we score touchdowns while Nugent kicks field goals.

Even if they got the call and got the first down and say a miracle happened and they scored a TD. They would need a 2 pointer to tie the game. Anyone really believe this would happen?

    To answer your 3 questions...

    1. Yes, we have a defense. You may not like the way it's schemed to play, but it has proven quite effective the first two weeks.
    2. AB was not shut down easily, Cinci put all of their focus on doubling and bracketing AB... This kept Coates in single coverage on deep routes (we exploited), left the middle seams vulnerable (we exploited with our TEs), and kept safeties out of the box (we tried to exploit with our running game).
    3. It would've been a 1st down

What's really funny is we've been listening to Javis Jones excuses going on 5 years now. 1st it was his injuries, then he is in pass coverage too much, then his is great against the run. He dosen't have it and won't be signed again unless for 5 rounder pay. It's okay to say it was a first round mistake.

I never wanted Jarvis, it was clear from his college days that he was never going to be a sack guy off the edge in the NFL... (no bend = no edge rush in the NFL), but I am ok giving them a pass on the 2013 draft... what a crap class. Sure, I wanted Xavier Rhodes that year. And Eric Reid sure would've been a nice pick... but that 1st round is littered with busts. It was a minefield. lol

That's the same way I think about it when we take guys that don't turn out to be what we hoped they would. I just look and see who we could have taken. It's not like we passed on J.J Watt, Von Miller, or Luke Kuechly to take Jarvis.

I wanted Eifert. Only saving grace there is he seems to be hurt quite a bit.

I think we've got a player in Jesse James though.

Passing on Jevon Kearse for Troy Edwards was the worst draft decision I've seen the Steelers make since not taking Marino in '83. The Jarvis Jones pick was brilliant compared to those.

I think the Bungles think we have a player in James as well. LOL! Plus Heath still had quite a bit left in the tank back then too so I can see why they would pass on a TE.

Kearse was an absolute beast for a few years. Or a "freak" I guess I should say.

Without Ben we lose this game, playing in sporadic down pours with inexperienced tight ends and receivers he threw 3 touchdowns and had 259 yards passing, yes he had a couple of picks but with the inexperienced help he had on the field and AB checked out that was no surprise, he got us to a 15 point lead with 6 minutes left, then this soft zone defense let dalton pick us apart underneath till it was only a 1 score game, under the circumstances Ben never quit and he gets my game ball, this soft zone defense is giving up 400 yards a game, (or as I prefer to call it a prevent defense) and that makes it very difficult for the offense to hang on to a double digit lead, and down the road some team is going to blow us out with this defense giving up 400 yards a game, just wait and see how it works out against Brady.........

At least 2 articles on Steelers Depot about it they will need to get much better some Team will find away to convert if they do we will give up a lot of points ..I did like the fact they put a CB on AJ and followed him and didn't let him get free releases ...

I'm not watching that game. 2011 Patriots game was an anomaly... and to this day, I still don't know how the hell we won that game. Brady will pick apart this defense and our offense will be lucky to score half as many points. If the Steelers make the playoffs, I hope some other team takes out the Patriots... because the Steelers will NEVER match up well against them, as long as Brady is QB for the Patriots.

16 points a game so far. 46 rushing yards given up against the bengirls. if we hold a team to that every week i like our chances. same thing i said last week. yards mean nothing.

I agree as to yards mean nothing , but trips down into the redzone do...So far we have got away with it as a article states on depot a lot of that has been luck ..Teams will get better at scoring the ball we need to stop letting Teams get so many shots ..Eventually those shots will turn into points ...

It has nothing in common with a prevent defense.
