Check Garappolo's stats in the first quarter today. Anyone want to continue this argument? The QB is the kite; Belichick is the air.

Actually I was just coming to post that NE has its replacement when Brady leaves. See the throws this kid makes? I was pissed when NE drafted him.

    Scheme shmeme, kid can throw.

They put up 10 more after he went down and won the game with a 3rd stringer. Unreal.

Meh, easy to play with a 24 point lead or whatever cushion he entered the game with.

They win next week, I'll give more credit to it then.

What is that qb's name that came in? I honestly can't even remember. He just looked like a skinny black guy. It might have been Dennis Dixon. LOL!

Jimmy has the same injury that Ben had last year and they're acting like he will be ready on Thursday night. It's an AC joint in his shoulder. I don't think that injury is child's play. They're like "Oh, it's the same injury that Ben had and he played the next week..." It's like they're clueless to the fact that Ben is one of the toughest qb's ever and that his kind of toughness just grows on trees.

Jacoby Brissett, they took him in the 3rd rd. They may not be in as much trouble as I thought.

Thats Belichick for you, he collects a zillion draft picks and can do things like take a QB in the 3rd rd. I never said he wasnt a great coach, I just dont think any coach wins 4 SBs without a HOF QB.

Edleman is the backup QB to Brissett this week. Now if he plays and throws for 350 yards 3 TD's, its the system :lolol:

It's both scheme and QB or player if you want. BFT was talking about the watered down offense for Cassel or how they changed things up for Garoppolo. The maddening thing is that they adapt everything they do for the talent they have and since BB is so anal to the point of OCD about studying film and breaking down players they know exactly what they want to ask guys to do in order to help a QB succeed. Why is do Brady or anyone else have so much time to throw? They know what is coming and how to block for it, how is the second and third option so wide open? Because they have prepared for it and know what to call based on what the defense has showed them. You could give BB a week with a college QB and that guy will look like the find of the century because he knows, he knows where the hot read will be, he knows if they are stacking the box that if he spreads the field it will force them to open up running lanes. Show blitz and he will send the slant route into the hole in your zone time and time again. Back your safeties off for coverage over the top and he will hit the TE up the middle and Gronk kills you. He prepares them to succeed and all they have to do is believe that he can do it and he does.

They also know where they will be themselves. I've heard Bill always using the mantra of "do your job". He stresses that hardcore. It means that if you are supposed to run a wheel route you do it. If you are supposed to run a slant you do it. If you are supposed to pick up the MIKE you do it. I think it's pretty obvious that if EVERYbody does what they are supposed to do you can beat anybody anytime. How many times do you see the Pats not looking like they are on the same page? VERY rarely. That's what makes them tougher to beat than anything I think and if anyone dares to deviate from the philosophy of "do your job" then they will be gone so quick their head spins and replaced with someone who is probably actually less "talented" but will look better because they are just doing what they are told to do. The pats have had Talib AND Revis and let them BOTH walk. Bill has absolutely zero sentiment. If you lose a step or show that you're not walking in lockstep you will be gone. Tom Landry was like that too.

He is a great coach. Dishonest yes. Spygate and Deflategate are in his legacy. He reminds me a lot of Chuck Noll.

Belichick's team also know how to do two things:

    1. Take the ball away.
    2. Don't give the ball away.

The pats are going to win it all this year. They can't lose no matter who their qb is.

The pats are scary good. They can beat you in every phase of the game. When Brady gets back it will be even more ridiculous. I hope our staff is already gameplanning to beat them. It's pretty much gonna take a perfect game out of us to do it. Hopefully we can just run the wheels off of Le'Veon and DwILL and keep Brady off the field. Wouldn't you say that would give us the best shot to win?

We can beat them. We have more talent then they do but they execute far better than we do. So if we execute fairly well that week, our talent will make up for the difference in coaching and execution. They just don't make many mistakes. Their guys are always where they're supposed to be. We are more talented though.

That is one ridiculously well coached team. To be able to plan for and execute QB runs and the option on a short week when your team has never done it before, that's insane. It will take a very good game from us to beat them, but we can beat them if we execute the week and don't make stupid mistakes

It's pretty dang sickening to watch man. I don't know if we've ever looked that well coached before in all three phases of the game.

The only way this happens is if the Steelers manage to win the turnover battle, and as we have already seen this season, asking Ben to be protect the football is a tall order.

As I said in my op in this thread, Belichick is the most meticulous coach there is, dissects 1 play inside and out for an hour. He's crazy but its effective as hell. No one prepares their team better.

This game was more about Houston playing like **** though than NE doing anything great. Jacoby had one nice play, his TD run. The best thing that could be said for the rest of his game was he didn't make any mistakes, which is impressive in itself. The defensive plays were gimmies, the one fumble at the 20 the guy was barely touched, the interception was terrible, defender was standing right there.

Houston gave them that game, turnovers kill, especially when you turn the ball over that deep in your territory.

Oz played like crap, now you know why Elway and Kubiack didn't pay him.

Aikmans career stats were pretty mediocre with only 165 TDs, his running game with emmit smith and a strong defense got him 3 superbowl wins, and those wins got him to the HOF not his stats, Irvin was a mediocre receiver as well ranked 27th on the all time list isnt really hof type numbers..........

It's also harf to say it's the system when it was pretty clear last night that they didn't run the Brady plays. I mean when is the last time you saw Brady run the option? Bill knows how to play to a guy's strengths better than any coach in the league and we have seen that the last three games and the whole Cassel season.

Belichek seems to find ways to win. Then again... he did face many of his understudies.

Even so.. a win is a win.. and no one can take that from the Thursday pulverization of the Texans.

On that note.. why was Jadeveon Clowney playing as a 3-4 DE? He is tailor made for 4-3 DE and only such. Anything else is a waste of his abilities.
