For the most part, I really do believe that's true. When I look at "comments" sections on like NFL.COM or something like that it's just people absolutely eviscerating each other. All while claiming to be fans of the same team.

Ok. Your post was right after mine. Makes sense now, people on my ignore list quotes don't show up.

I don't believe anybody said he "shouldn't" be on the field or that he "should" be brought along slowly.
I believe what was said was based on the Steelers standard way of operating that he'd probably not see the field much early on. And he'd more than likely be brought along slowly.
I think maybe you're misreading some posts? At least mine.
I'm for what's best for the team. If Rogers is a better option and ready over Coates or Wheaton then I have no problem with him playing, in fact I'm happy that he is.
I could careless that he's a second year player who's never seen the field.

In response to the part highlighted in red. You right we do have some knowledgeable members here and that's also why I'm having a hard time understanding someone can't comprehend what someone actually posted.

Sometimes some of that is not a bad thing.
If you're being an idiot sometimes you need to be told so.

i agree BFT i'd say 96% of us do. occassionally you have someone who thinks they can police the board when we do a good job governing ourselves and the rare occassion TTF has to step in usually with a friendly reminder THEN THE HAMMER. I stole my little "white athlete" tidbit off another place while i was watching the int . and they went all attack mode real quick.

I think the old guard mentality is gone now. They seem to have no problem throwing the young guys out there now.

It does seem to be trending that direction.

For the most part, yeah. It's kind of gotten out of hand lately due to a few posters, though. We should start reigning it in...

    LOL. No.

    My misdirected anxiety :lolol:

A kids first ever game and you can't see why someone would be nervous. Ok. Whether you want to admit it or not, he still has a lot to learn.

You absolutely knew my position on this matter or you never would have brought up Coates. Also your response was kind of terse for someone who wasn't sick of reading me spout off about Eli ;)

Being brought along slowly and being benched is not semantics, its two entirely different things.

And that bouncy yellow ball tends to bounce off the wall and smack hopeful fans in the face more often then not. This camp favorite stuck, figured he would, just thought he'd be worked in gradually.

Edit: I don't have a problem with you Eddie, was just taken back by your first response. Not going to keep going tit for tat here. I hope Eli is a stud, I know we can all agree on that.

That's been the whole league. Once upon a time rookies took at least 1-2 years to really develop. Now rookies come in and some are quite dominant right away, although there's obviously still mistakes

Yep. I'd say about the last great qb to really wait their turn the old school way was probably Aaron Rodgers. These days they just throw them right out there. I figure coaches have a lot of pressure from ownership or something. Either that or it's just because guys are getting drafted from programs that have them "NFL ready" if there really is such a thing. I'm not exactly sure there is.

Apparently, special teams starts count as well. That may be what those 2 "starts" are?

Greg Warren has played in 167 games since becoming a Steeler, he is one of the most senior players on the team in his 12th year and most of the time hasn't missed a game but he has never been listed as a starter although he starts every game and is the only player at his position. Just saying. 167 games maybe have be a starter just once.
