Steelers vs bengals festivities / Tailgating.

I am flying into Pittsburgh (from Madison, Wi) to catch the game this weekend with my two boys. Will be my youngest sons first Heinz field experience. 2nd time for my self and other son. We are coming in Friday night and flying home Monday. I could really use some advice for things to do, places to see, etc.

#1 We'd love to tailgate. Are there any local bars that offer a tailgate party that we can pay for? Coming from out of town it's no fun watching everyone drinking beer, grilling out, and pounding pierogies before game time.

#2 What would you suggest doing Saturday? I came to the home opener a couple years ago and there was a pretty cool pep rally / party at the AE stage with a free Rusted Root concert. This was awesome. Anything similar this year? Or cool places to check out? day and night.

Must do: Inclines. Strip District.

Recommended: Local hole in the wall pizza. Gateway Clipper to the game.

Don't: Wear Kitty garb.

There's a pep rally at Market Square Friday.
Stage AE has the official Steelers tailgate. Opens 3 hours before kickoff.
Strip District on Saturday.
Tailgating: there are several organized ones you can buy into. Steel City Mafia does one I believe. You can Google it. Should be able to find several.

 

The best tailgating is in the gold lot 1 and 2 right next to the stadium ( I'll be there this Sunday) A lot of people will let you join their tailgate for a small fee, usually about $20. Just find one that has some food and beer you like and ask them "how much"

 

Lots of folks will let you pay money to join the tailgate for $20 or so. There is a quite a few in gold lot 1 or 2 right next to Heinz Field.
Stage AE is good they have a good size bar in there. There is basically a whole strip of bars/restaurants, and new micro brewery (SOUTHERN TIER) from basically PNC park to Stage AE. If you like micro brewed brew Southern Tier is awesome.

I'd say do a Consol Energy Center tour(where the Penguins play) but I don't think they are doing them right now. Go to a bar to watch the Pirates if baseball is your thing. Duquesne Incline. Best beer+food place is Fatheads imo. It's near the Incline as well.
