i don't think rogers has anything to do with wheaton staying or not. we will need a backup slot receiver, which wheaton can do as well as playing on the outside. coates and DHB will need to improve and tavis will need to show he can stay off the weed. i expect we will keep drafting some guys later in the draft to keep the pipeline full. we have 4 guys that need to improve. wheaton, DHB, coates and bryant to get to where i'd like this group to be. not that eli doesn't have to keep improving either but he's more of a specialty niche.

Yeah and honestly that came to mind when I was posting that. But it was the only one that came to mind.

But IF Green could come back then wouldn't that keep him primarily in the slot and James as a backup TE?

I thought the sideline shot of Eli talking to Ben after the pick was hilarious.... not sure what he really said... but I envisioned something like:
Eli: I'm so sorry Ben, it was my fault.... please please please don't kick me off the team, I promise I'll catch it next time
    Ben: Dude, relax

the salary cap spells the end for Wheaton more than anything... Wheaton was never very good in the slot, his short area abilities are not strong. Coates/Bryant and the salary cap spell the end for Wheaton... not Eli.

a lot will depend on how they play it with green and bell. remember they like bell split out too. i could see some dwill and bell splitting out of the backfield as well as this offense keeps evolving. i don't think we have seen us using and confusing teams with our full weaponry yet. we can actually still gain with subtraction and many guys will have diminished roles, but the offense look better. :smiley1::cool:

Yeah 38 with just a shell of our actual offense is pretty dang sweet.
