the trouble is that burns would have to play because gilbert knows less about this defense than burns. i expect before long gilbert or cockrell will be starting outside opposite burns. somebody will back our aging vet gay in the slot and davis will move back to safety full time.

Maybe but not absolutely. Gilbert has two years in the NFL so he understands the "speed" of the NFL, has a better grasp of the NFL WR rte tree and had spent time film study on NFL offenses and WR. He's been coached up on mistakes which offers opportunities for improvements. Artie has more time here in this system but remember this system has been simplified from days of not so long ago.

Either way they provide competition against each other which is a good thing ...

Won't take Gilbert long to get up to speed, he'll be ready before Burns.

His struggles has been well documented , I just don't believe him being here will hinder Burns in any way but may in fact help accelerate his development and if Gilbert can learn and grow from his past 2 years become 80% of the CB he was projected to be coming out of college we'll have a great defense

Was this the Steelers way of saying thank you to Buffalo Bills for beating
NY Jets securing a playoff spot for the PGH Steelers last year? Or was it Kevin Colbert
throwing a bone to Doug Whaley his former disciple at the PGH Steelers, who in my opinion
if the Bills don't make the playoffs this year will be fired.

Yes agreed his value is more CB then ST but what I am hoping for is if he don't make it as a CB we look at him as a punt/kick returner. I am so tired of us looking at small fast guys in the draft maybe Gilbert could fill that role, just a thought. I am hoping he can step in and be a good CB first but I hate to see AB returning punts and risk getting hurt.
