Does that mean that the Steelers didn't try to put him on their practice squad?

Essentially a Cockrell for Grant trade?

Be interesting to see what happens when Golson goes to IR.

I wonder how much influence the Gilbert trade had on their lack of effort to keep him on the PS.

Always hate to see draft picks gone, had high hopes for this guy

This actually pissed me off. We have like 2 or 3 RB on the PS but we can't keep this guy? I thought he was coming along nicely.

    I don't get this move.

Yep. Stingily better than Grant? Considering the need at that position, doubtful.

Maybe there's more to it than we yet know.

I'm thinking Grant wanted a change of scenery. The Steelers roster, both 53-man and practice squad will continue to evolve. Just wait until we hear the news on Hargrave.

Am I the only one wondering how the heck this guy even made the team? First oppurtunity in Carolina and he fumbles the ball..... not too sure if Pittsburgh is intrigued with his size... but either way... very odd to see him on the PS as opposed to out the door.

Yeah they feed him the ball constantly in the preseason a year ago and his yards per carry was horrid. Not sure why he stays around.

We definitely need more dB's then rb's. He's on the practice squad so I'm thinking he will be back

I don't see why they couldn't put him on the PS initially, instead one of those scrub RBs. The secondary needs more depth in case of injuries, maybe those blown coverages in the preseason games sealed his fate.

I thought he'd stick on the PS, but obviously the FO just doesn't think he has it. I mentioned in another thread that someone I know played some against Grant and pretty much said the same thing. Good athlete, but just doesn't have it. Would be shocked if he ever made a 53 man roster.

My buckeye homerism tried to see things differently, but maybe he's right. I hope the kid makes it in Buffalo. I also hope that Gilbert makes it in Pittsburgh haha we need the young CB's (Burns, Cockrell, Gilbert and Golson) to step up. You could even throw Davis in there if he's taking starting slot reps. Lots of youth in the Defense.

I was happy when we drafted Grant. Loved him at Ohio State. Hope Colbert proves me wrong again. I was screaming Wiz for head coach. Glad he jumped ship and we landed Tomlin.

    He's not going to IR.

They can only bring one back and that's going to be Dupree....

Looked lost on assignment pick-ups in the Preseason games.

Didn't seem to be able to make the right read or be on the same playcall. One of those TD's he came on a corner blitz and everyone was looking at him after the play.

I mentioned in another thread before he was cut that he hadn't looked that impressive this preseason.
Looked out of position and lost a lot of the time. Ultimately probably the right move, but how many RB's do we need?
Seems like there could have been room for him on the practice squad.
When I'm scratching my head over a move I try to keep in mind that as a fan I'm only seeing a very small portion of what's going on with a player.

yet we keep shamarko which can't see the field after 3 years but grant who at least can tackle well and looked better year two can't even make the practice squad? this is all going to come back and bite us i have a feeling. another draft pick DB down the tubes.

as for stingley i was reading that he may be the backup option to our backup FB since nix has been MIA. thats fine but why both of these RB's?

another mystery is feiler. why? there are some better players that were cut loose for that spot.

i hope there are moves to come with this team.

Well, with "the Shamarko" you have a point. However he does have flashes and generally doesn't look lost "most" of the time when he's on the field. He just does some stupid crap every now and then.

He is a safety though. We've never seen Grant as a safety, so we don't know. What we did find out was he didn't know the play calls or the keys very well in a basic vanilla preseason defense.

we saw grant as a safety in preseason. shamarko has basically only played as a nickle corner when he was given playing time in his rookie year. now he's hurt again i just read. shamarko made a lot of bone head mistakes when given his chance in year 3. grant was the 2nd leading tackler in this preseason, had 1 pick 6 and a fumble recovery added to that. i think they have made a huge mistake dumping him this early. we are very thin at corner right now.

Wow... I`m in shock... The only thing I can figure is Grant had more off-field problems in the Burgh, than Gilbert had in Cleve...

I just can`t see more upside from Justin, than Doran...

Then again, I`m not a coach that sees them every day on the field...

I REALLY hope they got this right, Because it feels flat out WRONG!!!!

    GO STEELERS!!!
