He had surgery last week. He will have it this week. Hernias can be hard to diagnose. I'd guess it didn't respond to treatment and got steadily worse, so they decided surgery had to be performed.

Better an OLB in preseason than a QB during the season

IR = as many as you want.....then you pick 1 to return when the time comes. Not like it was with Pouncey where you had to designate him right up front....You can bring back any 1 player from IR now

Exactly this.... Which means they will probably carry Golson on the 53...... Which means Grant won't be back or any other FA CB.....

    .... ugh............

This just complicates and magnifies issues exponetionally. Never mind there is not a single linebacker on the roster who can match Dupree's athletic talent.. there is not a single guy who really can get afree the quarterback not named James Harrison.

On a side note; as much as I believe Ben and Brown will help... they cannot fix every single issue the Steelers have currently. I am hoping that Cameron Heyward does not re-aggrivate that foot. If he or Ben go down.. kiss those playoff hopes alive.

dang I thought he was coming along nicely ..maybe he can study a lot of film and get his mind right for his return....If I was his position Coach I would tell him to study each and every opponents right tackle and learn their favorite move and learn what they have problems with...Also to learn the OC'S from those Teams what they like to do and when they like to do it....

Terrible news for us Steeler fans, Bud Dupree was needed to produce close to double digit sack numbers.
I am not sure where those totals will come from? Everybody on this defense is going to have raise their game
for us to get where we want to be. EVERYBODY!!!!!

This happens every year. This team will be fine. Moats can hang and it will give Chickello more reps. It's the other side i'm concerned about. Can Jarvis "Soft" Jones hang on? Or will the Beast take his spot? Again.

Guess the issue now is who do you bring back after 8 games? I don't know about Golson making it back and contributing with that foot injury and keeping him on the 53.

I would feel Green being activated for Ben to have another weapon.

Aren't they saying that Golson has a Lisfranc injury? I wouldn't doubt that his season is over.

It's possible. It's also possible he returns for the final 6-9 games of he season.

I'm predicting they'll keep him on the 53 in hopes of getting him and Dupree back. Now if K. Lewis comes back in a month or so and shows his hip is ok and he's cleared to play then they may sign him and then IR Golson.

After the Boykin debacle I'd be shocked if they signed anybody dealing with that injury. It sucks bad to lose Dupree but if I had my rathers I'd rather Cam be the one that is totally healthy. He's the leader and the fire in the belly of this defense.

Nobody on the Steelers defense is capable of getting double digit sacks IMO, I could see Tuitt leading the team with 7-8 sacks. Butler will have to be creative like he was last season with his blitz packages.

Peezy said he expected Jarvis AND Dupree to have double digits this year. He might have even guessed 20 a piece. I disagreed btw.

we lose a 4 sack guy woopty doo. Sucks it hurts his development though. OLB is becoming a problem.

This. It's disappointing to lose Bud, but from a production standpoint, this matters little. They had 48 sacks last year, Bud contributed 4 (I think).

Yea those 4 sacks could now in his( second season) turn into 10. which is much needed
from our LB corp. This is a big blow for Steelers. But being that this board is all about
redshirt years and that young players aren't suppose too make contributions I can understand
    the sentiments.

LOL so you just awarded him 6 more sacks which you have no idea he can do. Very generous of you.

You go live in fantasy land but the reality is, little production was lost here.

The big blow is the loss of development for Bud.
