well, I remember he was a popular choice prior to the 2014 draft. But I also remember watching him play- and trading comments with others here - feeling almighty glad we did not take him.

Still, it's a low cost move even if it does not pan out.

I was very high on the Gilbert bandwagon. He and Shazier were a couple of my favorite prospects in the draft.

Now, Gilbert has been a disaster in Cleveland. I am hoping those troubles stay in Cleveland. I know Mingo played better with the Pats the other night than he ever looked in Cleveland.

It's a low risk move. He is a great return man. Hopefully he can move into that role and then ease into the CB rotation.

Could be a dud move but I'm willing to roll the dice.

    Ahem, family board.

Wow, love the moves the Steelers are making, at least on the surface. Hopefully they become useful additions.

    Good job :applaud:

Makes me wonder what the iggles are asking for Rowe?

I wonder what Browns fans are saying on their message boards? Must be some real (more than usual) bitchin` and moanin` going on.

Stop raining on our parade with factual analysis. LOL! I'm honestly really surprised by this. I was wanting a corner when we took Shazier as well but I think it was Dennard that I wanted the most. Wasn't that in that same draft?

This is where we see if our coaches are as good as the fans say they are. The Pats do this stuff all the time...Nothing would make me smile more than to see Mingo get close to double digit sacks, and Gilbert grab a couple INT's then Gilbert, Burns, Cockrell, and Golson be our top 4 next season

From what Mingo was saying, the culture at Cleveland was awful.

This may be an interesting test of Lake's coaching.

He's stepping into a very well lead defense. Heyward isn't going to take that stuff. Also he has a veteran leader in Gay. The Browns are an absolute mass with zero leadership and a ton of over turn on coaches.

People have said that in the past about coming into that Pitt locker room. They said like in "other team" They would be dreaming of making the playoffs this year....and in Pitt...they are not hoping...the totally expect it...in Pitt its a Super Bowl vibe every year.

That was the year the Bears took Kyle Fuller, who many Steeler fans wanted.

According to An article on SD he was basically just an idiot. Couldn't show up to the stadium on time on game day etc.

Cowher would have gotten Richard Sherman from Seattle for a 7th round pick in 2019.

Ahh needs a babysitter lol what a moron. Let's hope he leaves that junk in Cleveland. Although I bet it's a little easier to get up to play for a perennial winner than it is to play for a joke like the Browns. Plus if he plays well enough he might find his way onto the field. An injury as S or slot CB could put him and/or Burns into the lineup rather quickly.

How does this trade affect the salary cap, Gilbert was a top 10 pick still on his rookie contract. Maybe that's why Colbert was creating cap space with those restructured contracts.

Let me tell you anyone that spent any amount of time in the hot mess that has been Cleveland since they came back into the league deserves a one time free pass until they do something stupid but until then I am giving Gilbert a break.

If Barkevious Mingo considers the Patriots atmosphere a cultural change... there is no reason why Gilbert should believe the Steelers are the same..

Besides... Gilbert now has a reason to believe he can do something anyway as he is within a consistent winning culture that is patient and steady.
