I just heard on the radio that the 49ers QB(?) won't stand for the national anthem because of how minorities are treated in this country.
Hey Colon! The 60s called, they want their protests back!

Colin Kaepernick has a First Ammendment right to free speech, he's entitled to his opinion, and so am I.

This would all be more convincing if Colin had expressed his solidarity with the oppressed before. He's been around what 4-5 yrs. All was apparently ok when he was a rising star QB in SF, now that he's pushing 30 and barely hanging on in the NFL, he discovers oppression?

The attention grabbing gesture of failing to stand to stand for the anthem does sooo much for the oppressed, but it does get Colin pub. We'll see soon enough if that's the reason for this or not.

Social awareness discovered late in life,I suppose is not to be belittled, now that his pro football career winds down, I suppose we'll soon see him do the selfless hard work in the street to evalate the oppressed.

But, I won't hold my breath.

He. of course, has a right to his opinion. Reminds me of when my brother and I refused to stand for the anthem at a Chargers game. We were "protesting" Vietnam. That was in about '71 and, naturally, our protest was heard by "the MAN" and the conflict was ended immediately! Difference being, we were young teenagers.

I wonder if under the behavior clause in his contract he could face some action for this? I hope he gets used to that bench because it won't be long until he's sitting on it a lot. He's not a long term player in this league and most teams seemed to have already figured him out anyway.

As the famous T shirt in the 60's said: "You hate cops? Next time you're getting mugged - call a hippie!" Wonder who this dude's goinna call?

"Can't you see this is the last act of a desperate man?" The timing seems a bit suspect. Were minorities any less "oppressed" the last several years when you were a guaranteed starter? Or is it now an issue when you might not make the final 53 on your team?

I believe that government is best which governs not at all, and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have.

NFL's hands are tied on this one, need to induce a clause to enable a flag salute law in their contracts (never will fly with current 1-mend) Colin's reasoning sucks just as the current bs circulating our cities. Have one thing to say to these flag burning non-salute disrespectful %$'s... If the American flag defends you let us help you pack your bags and get out of dodge!

My words will either attract a strong mind or offend a weak one.

Maybe the "minority" president, or one of the "minority" ex-secretary of states, or Dr. Ben Carson, or...........
To quote a friend of mine, "You are where you want to be........."

If Craperneck wants to protest that's his right I guess.
It's one thing to use your fame to help others, but do it on your own time.
I just don't get why these guys think it's okay to do it when they're on someone's payroll.
If I pulled this nonsense at work I'd be fired.

I'm not going to discuss the whole oppressed issue here.

I just wonder if he's feeling a bit guilty for taking those millions?

Hopefully Ghostbusters so they can zap him, trap him, and put him in the Containment Unit where he belongs so the rest of us won't have our minds polluted by the stupidity that he spews ad nauseum. Moron, that guy.

Oddly, I watched "Straight Outta Compton" the other night. Now, there's some people who were oppressed. Rightly or wrongly. Now, with the exception of Easy E and Suge, they're all respected millionaires. Much as I dislike that genre of "music" ya gotta give them credit for finding a way out of their oppression/

    It's disheartening.

I may not fully agree with what he's trying to say, but I understand where he's coming from just the same. I certainly do NOT agree with how he is choosing to make a statement, but it is his right to do so. I wish he'd find a less polarizing way to make that statement. Then again, he has got the attention he wanted, for better or worse. Sadly, discourse and reason are extinct in this country, so all he really has managed to do is further entrench both sides rather than open up true discussion. But that's a different topic, and I'll restrain myself from going further lest we spiral out of the board's rules.
