Every one does business with the patsies. Were we not interested in mingo for a 5th rd draft pick?

I don't see that we would have a need for Mingo tbh

This. We already have five more than capable outside linebackers. I just don't see where he fits in for this year.

The Pats have lost ninkovich to a tricep tear maybe mingo fits into their plan for a fill in, by the way belichick has a former insider on the browns staff that smoothed the way for this trade:

    ABC News:
Mingo was drafted by the Browns when Mike Lombardi was general manager. Lombardi spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as an assistant to the Patriots coaching staff and remains a confidant to head coachBill Belichick.

Unless Bill can make him into a a ballplayer, he like a lb we all know was drafted way too high.
We normally evaluate the LB quite well.

Why? There's no one on our roster I'd replace him with.

We used to evaluate LB'ers very well. We really haven't done a good job of it since Cowher left though. Most of the LB'ers we draft don't live up to expectations, even when drafted high.

Shazier, Timmons, and Woodley lived up to expectations. The jury is still out on Dupree.

I often wonder how we evaluated JJ as a 1st round LB as high as we did, a lot of people said that pick was a huge reach, as it turns out if we had drafted him in the later rounds he would have already been cut long before now.....

He had 28 sacks at Georgia highly productive, but he wasn't a great athlete and didn't workout well definitely got drafted too high.

Funny thing about Belichick, he takes other teams scrubs and sends them to the pro bowl, remember Mike Vrable????

Vrabel wasn't one of our scrubs..... he was buried on our depth chart with stars ahead of him

Agree, but that doesn't change the fact that bellyCheat squeezes the most juice out of others scraps

He had star quality they just never gave him a chance to prove it for the 4 years he was here, he was versatile, he could play both outside and inside LB and he proved it in new england, he even played tight end on offense and caught 10 TDs, and no coach could see his potential here for 4 years, at least when he got his chance to play he proved them wrong with a 14 year career and 3 super bowl rings.....

Did any of our LBs ever do this in one game:

His versatility was good enough for NFL Network to rank him #7 on their Top 10 episode of the Greatest Versatile Players.

In week 8 of the 2007 season, Vrabel forced 3 fumbles, had 3 sacks, recovered an onside kick, and scored an offensive touchdown against the Washington Redskins.

Another Georgia Bulldog who was a prodigious talent... thanks to then coach Mark Richt's system...

If anyone can get anything out of Mingo.. it is Belichik.
