That is one problem solved at least.

    All that remains is DeCastro.

He can start for a year while a young gun takes over. And has the veteran experience. This leaves Timmons outside looking in at this point.

DeCastro should be signed and AB needs a bonus till his monster deal happens next year. And he will get a monster deal.

This also marks the beginning of the end for Lawrence "Law Dog" Timmons.

10+ in a Steelers uniform and played 100% of the snap count in 2013. Became a starter in 2009 and was Tomlin's first drafted player.

Thank you for your service Lawrence... you will be gone but never forgotten..

I thought for sure DeCastro would be the first to get a extension. Good for Williams though solid player.

This signing gives us leverage with LT. If he wants to come back, it is going to take a $$$$ discount.

I would have thought Double D would have been the priority here this year? Plug and play guy
since we drafted him and suits up for most all games. Get it done Steelers.

It has to match Kelechi Osemele's contract bare minimum and DeCastro's agent is more than likely going to not take a dime nor penny less.

I still think the deal gets done. The unity on that oline helps to a degree. They really enjoy playing together and hopefully like many that have come before him DD looks at everything when it comes to the Steelers and not just the dollar signs.

Timmons is still the top dog untill someone unseats him, williams career stats look puny to me compared to timmons granted VW doesnt have the starts but he still has a way to go to catch up..........

Never said it would not... but it is going to either supercede Osemele's or be right there.

He's just being humble, he even said later in the article that he believes he can be starter material. And I'm sure he is being respectful of Timmons while he is still on the roster.

That said, he's no Timmons. But I like what he brings to the table now and he should continue to get better, I don't know what his ceiling is but don't think hes reached it yet.

I think he's a bargain. I think he's a solid linebacker for this team. Seems to me, whenever he sees the field, he's out there making plays. I referenced that in regards to the last preseason game. Somebody disagreed with me but that's what the board is for. I'm glad to see we've got him locked up.
