Lewis is too damaged and the risk on signing him is too great,, I would have rather signed Cromartie over Lewis if I had my choice, Cromartie just signed a 1 year 3 mill contract on Monday with the colts, so the knock on him was his hip, evidently not bad enough to keep the colts away........

 

I would have signed them both and moved Cromartie to FS,,,

Who said Gay wasn't our #1? My only point is if you are going to play guys, no matter who they are, you play them to their strengths. Of the guys on our team who are CBs, the only ones right now who seem to be able to play in the slot are Golson, Gay, and Davis (a Safety). If you bring in Lewis, you have Burns, Cockrell, Gay, Grant, and Lewis who are all outside capable. Only Gay of these 5 is inside capable IMO. You play your best 3 guys. If that is Gay, Lewis or Cockrell, and Davis....great Davis plays the slot. If it is Lewis, Gay, and Cockrell....then you probably move Gay to the slot. You don't move him there because he isn't your best CB, you move him to get the best 3 on the field.

 

Well then signing him now doesn't make sense. You don't take up a roster spot at this point in the year with an injured player, especially if you want to keep Golson on the IR to return list.

If he is not healthy then you just can't sign him right now...We are in desperate need , but you can't sign a guy on the back end of his playing days while he is not fit for duty....Now if it was a younger CB or Safety then we might need to look at that different...

 

I thought they were cowhers. Tomlin has to prove that he can win with his own.
