If Dupree misses the rest of the pre-season, would anyone be surprised if his groin strain turns out to be a sports hernia, and he has to undergo surgery to repair it?

That would stink I think he's due to break out more this year.
But, I think you can get by with Moates, and I really like Chickillo more and more.
But, they aren't near good as Dupree can be.

    I hope not, but I wouldn't be shocked ...

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. I've almost come to expect that our young defenders will be injured all the time. It doesn't seem to matter how healthy they were during their college careers.

I hope it doesn't come down to surgery. I really see Bud being a major factor for this defense this year. He showed already that he has the instincts to be a great player but with a groin injury it will definitely limit him. The only thing that can help right now is rest and relaxation.

If it was a tear he would have had surgery and would have been out for the entire year.

Back to the OP, it is most likely a grade two groin pull considering he rushed back to the field and was slated to be back by the Saints game... but his impatience cost him and, as a result, downgraded his groin condition.

I seriously doubt it's a hernia. I had hernia surgery, and you'd know you need it.... Some type of pull or strain would make a lot of sense.

I hope the kid gets better soon, he needs all the reps he can get. For a player as raw as he is, practice is so important. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a bigger setback than it already is.
