Golson, the team's second round pick in 2015, is not expected to play in 2016, according to Bob Labriola of Steelers.com. Golson is expected to be out 3-4 months after undergoing surgery to repair the Lisfranc injury he suffered in training camp.

"As for playing this season, that sounds impossible to me at this stage, because Golson has only participated in a handful of practices during his time here," Labriola wrote. "Expecting him to overcome his injury and then play in meaningful regular season games, with virtually no practice time at the NFL level under his belt, doesn’t seem to me to be very realistic, or smart."

I was afraid of this when I heard it was a Lisfranc, those take a while.

Thats some really bad luck for this kid, tough way to start your NFL career.

Bummer. The guy can play football, but who knows whether we'll ever find out if he can play at the NFL level.

I'm hoping he has more of an impact than Spence. Spence wasn't the same player after his injury. Golsons are much less severe. Whenever he gets rid of this black cloud following him around, could be a nice addition to the team.

I was thinking more about people giving up on a player hurt in consecutive seasons without meaningful time in the regular season.

Too bad for him. For as frustrated as we fans are about him missing time, imagine being Senquez.... Two seasons of football gone before they started. Gotta be really tough on him.

To brighten up the subject, Gregg LLoyd missed his first 2 season, and you saw how great he
became. Maybe Golson could do the same?

Pittsburgh Post Gazette says Golson is eyeing a November return and that Golson says he'll be back this year. Here's hoping!!

That would be great, not sure how much he'd contribute this season but just getting some field time would help set up next year.

Kid can play, college tape shows that.

Indeed. Mike Mayock himself stated Golson was the best zone based corner he saw in quite some time.

Problem is that he'll only have two years left on his rookie deal. Next year he'll likely struggle a bit since he's barely played in two and a half years. Then you wouldn't want to re-sign him before his contract is up. Then what happens if he plays really good in his 4th year and hits FA? It's hard to re-sign him then, especially with only one good year of tape and a history of injuries. And a lot of teams, unlike the Steelers, will pay big bucks for an above average cb. This guy is probably going to end up being a waste of a pick.
