Yeah, Ponder would have been a nice pick up.

Really? Pretty sure most Vikings fans would have traded him for the duct taped weight bench in the training room.

As a starter yes. As a backup he's capable. As a scrap heap guy signing during preseason, he was good value.

He was a 1st round pick, and considered to be a potential franchise QB. If a guy like that doesn't work out as a franchise QB, he's not going to be welcome in the town where he was drafted, but it doesn't mean he has zero capability.

Living in MN and having to have media glut of the Vikings I wash pulling for the guy but he just was never able to put things together, way to inconsistent in the end. I think had Frazier been a better coach or they had a vision of the team beyond Peterson running the ball 90 times it would have worked out better for him.

I don't know who this guy is but, 6'3" ain't short! "Short" hasn't hurt Drew Brees, didn't hurt Flutie.......

Wikipedia lists him as 6' 3" and 230 lbs. maybe, you'd like a bigger guy, but he ain't Doug Flutie. Not that I expect anything of him. It seems to me he's been signed to eat up snaps in preseason game #3 and #4, so that Ben and Laundry don't have to.

Exactly..He is the camp arm after the camp, if he plays great he could earn a spot , but no need for him to play it safe he might as well audible to a pass every play, this could be his last chance ...

I actually like those facts as the BU OL and BU WR'S will get a better look in the passing game...Really no need to check out the RB'S we know which 4 are going into the season already...

I didnt get that he lacks height in his draft report, he is 6-3 around 225, thats considered ideal size for an NFL Qb on any scouting report........

I'm guessing what the team done was put up everyone's draft profile's against Landry's and when they read this they were like "THERE'S THE GUY WE'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!" LOL!

Bob Labriola wrote an article on Steelers.com defending Landry and said the Steelers "aren't even looking" for another potential backup. He also said that people are just trying to find a "villain" to pin it all on but really Coates ran a poor route and James didn't block well. He said it's unfair to compare Landry to Ben. Well DUH. But it's NOT unfair to compare him to EVERY OTHER BACKUP QB THAT DIDN'T THROW 4 PICKS! Dude seriously take off your dang homer glasses. The kid sucks. Period. I know that we beat AZ with him last year but it really all boiled down to a miraculous piece of running from Martavis as opposed to laser precision from the qb position. I know he's not playing with the starters but still his play is poor. The team should just stack him in the "failed project player/trying to be cute in the draft" file along with Rainey, Archer, and the rest of the wasted draft picks we've had in the last few years.

I imagine AZ fans are looking at Landry and saying "we let him beat us last year?". Kinda like we do with sub .500 teams each year.

He's also not playing against starters either. I'm not here to kill the kid. He's likely an NFL career backup. That's fine, hell, I wish I was an NFL career backup QB. But you don't see the offense show much ability to move when he's out there. After 3 yrs in the league, with some playing experience and a little bit of playoff experience, you'd expect to see something. I wonder if Jones is pressing, as a FA at year end, this may his only chance this yr to make an impression for a future team. If so, the tape he's making don't look so hot.

Is there a list somewhere that shows college QBS that were not drafted this year?

I would take Ponder over the Steelers backup QBs, he looked decent in his debut with the 49ers.

Ponders problem is he looks good and then looks bad then good then bad then good. He is up and down that's his problem, consistency

If the Steelers had signed him then he would surrounded by a lot more talent than he had in Minnesota.
