released by the Saints... I figured there'd be a thread already about signing him lol he's been bothered by a hip injury though. Worth a physical?

Wouldn't hurt to kick the tires, but I am guessing his hip is an ongoing problem.

Seems like a really nice dude, but he has the skinniest legs in the world. It's as if someone began to draw a stick figure from the bottom and half-way through they decided to change their mind and make him a professional athlete.

Yes. He knows the ropes so to speak from being a Steeler. I'm sure he would fit in right away. The issue is the injury.

We let Green come aboard with headaches and Boykin with one leg longer than the other, why not let one come in with a hip injury.

His game improved after leaving the Burgh. He really wanted to be back home in New Orleans if I am not mistaken. Should the Steelers entertain bringing him back with an injury? Sure why not.

No.... The saints set records for bad defense/ pass defense last year and he was released even before the cutdown from 90 to 75..... That says a lot and none of it is good. He had two good years in 13-14 and he may get healthy, someday, and play again but his prime is behind him.

He hasnt been able to play in training camp for the saints, he had not 1 surgery last year, but three; I expected to see a posting about lewis, but his playing career is over in my view:

    Steeler Wire:
After having three surgeries in the last year alone, Lewis had been a limited participator at best during Saints camp this year, although he was activated off the team’s PUP list only a few weeks ago.

At 30 years old and with an ongoing hip issue, Lewis is unlikely to find an immediate suitor or be in a position to contribute anytime soon, but for those Steelers fans who wish he had never left, Lewis’ availability is sure to have one or two calling for his signing.

he probably wouldn't be able to contribute to much later in the season. Keep him in mind in case someone goes down mid season but I would say pass for now.

He got good here mostly from Ike. After we got him good he ran home and didn't even entertain an offer from us. He is hurt. May be done. DO NOT KICK THE TIRES

At least one of them may fall off, and you break it, you buy it.

I'd welcome him back and pray he's not another damaged goods player.

Players often realize they made a mistake when they leave the Burgh. I'd expect him to find his game again, if hes healthy.
