on August 18, 2016 the Landry Jones experiment has come to an end on a warm summer night in August he turned over the ball four times therefore ending any chances of ever being a quarterback for the Steelers in the future

Thank God he sucks time to get rid of his ass

Four times in the first half. Just sayin' . . .

Still, people will be, somehow, defending him in the next few days. Promise ya.

Agree but who is available and when do the cuts start coming? Need to find a viable option in the case Ben gets hurt.

He will be here next week. Chances are his replacement will come by the 2017 draft when Pittsburgh selects either a early or mid round choice.

Except it hasn't. He'll be here all season.

I did think that it might be RIP Dustin Vaughn, though. It looked like he could have gotten killed tonight behind that line.

I would tell Peyton Manning that if he comes out of retirement to play for the Steelers he can make all the commercials he wants. Unlimited TV air time.

By the end there was zero fear by the Eagles and they just blitzed because there wasn't anyone to make them pay. they blitz like that with Brown in there he shreds them which then opens up Bell which opens up slant routes and TE seam routes and my god beautiful beautiful play action. Then we throw in some trickery oh the options. .....but no...we keep it all inside for the regular season and then we let Magnum drop ....choirs of angels sing.

How the hell does our coaching staff sit there going over the various situations and convince themselves if Ben goes down, no problem we just send in Landry Jones. Somebody needs to explain to them what a back up Quarterback is.

Maybe we can convert DHB to QB and run speed option or convert Big Dan and run QB power ? I actually think one of these would look better than Jones..

I am disappointed like all other fans that as well run of a franchise we feel the Steelers are,
and knowing Ben R injury history that we have really limited options at the QB & TE position.
This is unacceptable for a team that is suppose to contend for a Superbowl. I am going to cut them a break
on the TE situation, I think the player & agent lied. But the back up QB situation we have known for sometime.
What happens if Ben R goes down for a 4 game stretch? Can we keep pace with other AFC contenders?

Your making way too much sense here. That's exactly how I feel about the backup QB. More disappointed with the front office on this then the players. For some of us it was pretty obvious that this may come back to bite us in the ars. Obviously this was a miss and something should have been done in the offseason. I even saw lately the 49's just picked up Ponders who I think would of been better than what we have.

Jones just has bad vision, stares at his receivers, cannot run much, lacks confidence, and not very accurate. All the things that go against a decent QB. I don't care how good a half he had against Denver.

I actually couldn't see the game but from what I'm reading, I not surprised of how he played.

QB pickings are slim right now. One guy who was solid a few years ago is Josh Freeman. I know he's struggled in recent years, but I doubt he can be worse than Jones. A few years back he had a 25 TD/6 Int season and a 4,000 yard, 27 TD season. He's only 28.

Matt Flynn is an odd one. He has had amazing games as a backup in Green Bay, but nothing elsewhere. There may be something there. Not good, but maybe better than what we've got.

Bryn Renner looked solid to me in Baltimore last preseason, but he got cut in favor of Schaub at the start of the season.

There's very little out there. IMO we dropped the ball in the offseason by just sticking with both Jones and Grad, neither of which are anything more than a fringe 3rd stringer.

Why not bring in a QB from the CFL or Arena League? At least have some tryouts. The worst that could happen is they don't find anyone.
Or if not those, maybe a washed up vet. Hell Jamarcus Russel said he'd play for free this year (although that's about all he's worth) :lolol:
Maybe convince Jake Locker he really does like football?

    Exactly.

Trailing 17-0 with time left in the 4th, the Steelers chose to run the ball twice inside their own 20. Why? Because the coaches are playing a different game in preseason.

That's not to defend LJ - he was horrific last night. But the coaches will be well aware of what they've got. Who knows what conversations are taking place behind closed doors.
