How much is the Potter and how is the clay Mac? It's easy to say look at Ward and Brown and say Mann was a big part of this while at the same time you can balance the equation with Wallace who was talenred but ran sloppy routes and often lost focus when not part of the play, Sweed who had talent but had confidence issues and other things. So it is very much a coloration more so than any one part.

Ward was retired by the time Mann got here. I like Mann and was excited when they hired him and he did a nice job cleaning up the receivers, if you remember, they were sloppy with drops and fumbles the year before he got here. I didn't think much of Montgomery as our WR coach but Mann has done a good job.

Having said that, KC is providing him with some nice clay and I feel he is the biggest reason for our WR success. Steelers do a good job evaluating WR's

of course the clay is part of the equation but mann has done for our receivers what munch has done for our o-line. they block since mann has gotten here for one thing and that was one of the major concerns that we were lacking when montgomery was here. he's taught technique and the little things that has raised this group as a whole. DHB has become a better and more focused receiver under manns watch. 31 years in the league counts for something and he has had success where he's coached. he was brought here for a reason and it's paid off in a huge way for this offense and his players. they respect his age and knowledge and listen when he speaks and it's shown on the field. he's taken good players and made them even better. he gotten the full potential out of his group, much like munch does.

He is best suited to play the #2 WR ... He will have to share his snaps with Coates and DHB if we go slot formation if we go 3 wide no slot then I think he is the #2 WR and Coates and DHB will share the snaps as the #3 option...

Let's see Rogers catch his first pass before we anoint him as a great player.

He has caught a bunch of balls in College, he also caught a lot in camp last year and has caught a lot this year in camp ...If you look at his College highlights then you can see he is very good at finding holes in zones. He is very good at getting YAC yards...He shows some very strong hands on multiple catches..He also shows very good field vision...He is also a willing and capable blocker...

These are the skills needed to play in the slot , will he be the best slot WR in the NFL? Who knows , but even the OC is stating he is better suited to play the slot than Wheaton...It's really just that simple...

A better slot WR than Julian Edelman? Rogers will be like the 5th option for Ben.

Better suited doesn't mean he'd be better then Wheaton. Until this kid does it on the NFL level, he's better than no one.

Sammie Coates has come to this camp prepared (in shape) unlike last year when coach T
called him out for being out of shape unprepared. I watched him last Friday night, it's like night and
day, he looks like a professional now.

PWP at it again. Overhyping another lower level player.
I remember the outrageous claims and unrealistic predictions he made about Redman that never panned out.

I guess James Harrison, Antonio Brown, and Tom Brady are all lower level players as well ? They are all later picks not really expected to do much by a lot of folks ...I could list a bunch more , but I think I have made my point...As far as Redzone went , he was considered a camp fodder by most that would never even make a NFL practice squad..Well I knew he had NFL talent and mad heart he used that to win a roster spot and he helped us win games ..Who knows how good he could have been had we blocked power and he would have stayed healthy...

So you can try to clown all you want , but Shorty Red won the starting job just like I said he would..Now you can insert Rogers as he will be the starter in the slot sooner than later ...How well he does still remains to be seen, but that don't change the fact that he is better suited to play in the slot than Wheaton is...Again.....Even Haley says he is a better fit than Wheaton ...

Just because Rogers maybe better suited to play the slot, doesn't mean he's a better WR than Wheaton right now.

Umm...Play has a pretty huge batting average when it comes to his outrageous Redman claims. I remember all the people that were cracking jokes at him when he was saying he'd make the team in the summer of '09. I know he says some outlandish things, but credit where credit is due. It's pretty hard to predict that a guy will get a career ending neck injury.

I remember him making some outrageous claims about Redman averaging 5.0 YPC that never panned out. And some other nonsense. Yeah Redman made the team. I guess if you throw enough crap at the wall somethings bound to stick.

I've told this story before and it's a true story. When I was a kid My Dad, my Grandpa and myself were at the horse races. The race end and my Grandpa was going on about how he won that race and my Dad says "I hope so, you bet every horse in the race" I looked over at my Grandpa and sure enough he had a stack of tickets in front of him as thick as a phone book.

Here's a normal way of doing things.
I really like Rodgers. He's looking really good in camp. I believe he has an excellent shot at making the team and contributing this season.

PWP's version: OMG Rodgers is the man. Best guy ever to play the slot (even though he hasn't even played a game yet) Wheaton might as well pack his bags cause he's outta here once my guy Rodgers rips him a new one. He's gonna be a legend. Write it down, take a picture. Best ever!
    Add in some more slobbering.

No. He was right many times about Redman and took a lot of flak. That ypc thing is the outrageous claim? How many runs did he have before getting sidelined? That's a funny story, but it doesn't really apply. Anyway, sure he says some off the wall stuff, but at least he has football knowledge and it's entertaining. Seems like you have a personal axe to grind for whatever reason and do that thing you tend to do...

I have never made 1 single prediction about Rogers stats ..What I did say was he is a better route runner than Wheaton, he is better after the catch, he is a better blocker than Wheaton as such I know he will be better for the Team in the slot than Wheaton...So if you want to argue that,, then by all means show me the YAC for Wheaton, show me the tape where Wheaton is getting open in the slot on a regular basis, show me the tape where Wheaton is a capable and willing blocker ???

Wheaton has plenty of NFL tape so it should be very easy to prove that Wheaton has better skills at this than Rogers ...Please do as Rogers College tape is way, way, way, way, way better than Wheatons NFL tape ....

I know it's comparing College tape to Pro tape so I will knock off 5 ways and Rogers tape is still better than Wheatons..

Hey, I like Rodgers too. I don't feel the need to trash Wheaton though.
When Rodgers starts making an impact in meaningful games then we'll be on to something.
I think he's got a chance at making the team, but at this point that's about it.

Yeah that YPC thing was outrageous. Wasn't there even going to a bet involving it IIRC?
personal axe? I don't mean it that way, but I can see were it might be perceived that way. Sorry for that.
If a person is going to make bold predictions on a message board they not only have to accept the rewards of being right, but also risk of getting made fun of when they're wrong.

I'll try to stay on topic with football related comments. Sorry for the derailment.
