Hello fellow members of TSF. AskQuestionsLater here.. bringinger you a certain scenario for the Steelers that they could face in 2017 and it regards to one of their most revered positions.. the Linebackers. With that, let me give you the scenario..

Jarvis Jones falis to improve upon his sack total and Lawrence Timmons shows that his best years are truly behind after that Turf Toe injury.

Again, like I said, this hopefully will not be the case, but should it be, which position does Pittsburgh go after if both are gone by the start of the 2017 offseason?

Honestly, I am not worried about Timmons at all. If he is done, Vince Williams I am confident can step in and play a huge role for this team. He may be the guy who comes off when we move to the dime, but the guy can play fine for us if needed.

Jones is another story. Truly I think the FO would like nothing more than for Feeney or Chickillo to take control of the role if Jones doesn't. Now that being said, I think we could see OLB being the #1 pick again this year. I truly do. Who we would get I have no idea, but I think we could see it.

We need to get through this season first to see what our most critical need will be in 17. Injury to a key player or losing a key player to FA will dictate where we go in the draft, we will be picking late in the 1st round if ben stays healthy any way so our 1 pick will be closer to a top 2nd round player, so maybe a more valuable player at a different position will be available with our late 1 pick more so than a linebacker....

feeney, mccord, matakevich, fort, williams if re-signed, shazier, dupree, chickillo, and yea i could see a draft pick on the edge but a 1st rounder may not be the pick for that spot. maybe it will but we have a nice mix of young talent to deal with at LB. who gets bigger and faster this season will go a long way. experience being added this season will also help by next year. if timmons money and heaths dead money are off the books next year, that saves us a bunch, so we could even make a splash in the FA market. we seem due for one of those bettis or farrior type pickups again. here's hoping our young home grown guys step up though.

Just gonna have to settle for a late 1st rd pick regardless after the bowl!!!

Edge rusher. Will need someone opposite Bud.

Shazier and Vince will hold down the fort at ILB but will spend a later rd pick on the position.

Ask me again at the end of the year when we see who steps up and who doesn't.

Let us suppose that both Jones and Timmons do well.. what would be the draft strategy then? Still an edge rusher? Or if Jarvis wants a team friendly contract (highly unlikely) what would be the biggest position to fill?

Unless Jarvis has a break out year he's only getting a team friendly contract. I mean who's going to pay him a big contract?
If he does have a breakout season that's still good. We won't mind paying him if he plays up to his draft status.

Given that scenario, I say edge would probably beat out ILB. Just because JH92 will probably be gone as well.
