Hello fellow members of TSF. AskQuestionsLater here with a question. Before I begin my question, let me start by giving you some NFL franchise names (add whoever else towards your hearts content):

    Dallas Cowboys

    Green Bay Packers

    Chicago Bears

    Oakland Raiders

    New York Giants

    San Francisco 49ers

Of these NFL franchises, in a series of three using current or future HOF players, team legends (think in the mold of a James Harrison or Aaron Smith) or key role players (think Santonio Holmes) which of these franchises would stand the best chance to beat a Pittsburgh Steelers team composed of all the current/future HOF, team legends, current and key role players?

    Rules:

    All players in their prime

Team of choice to pit against the composite Steelers team have 2 weeks worth of prep. time

    Modern NFL rules only

Cannot use the same player for different teams should that player have played for both (i.e. Rod Woodson for both Steelers vs. 49ers)

Best of three (give me your predictions based on a total of three of the best of these teams in your opinion

All right.. the rules have been made and the teams are there for the pickings. Let the predictions commence!

**** me that's too much work. But the answer is clearly none. There isn't an all time team that could come close to sniffing the Steelers all time team. None of those teams churned out good teams for 40+ years. Yeah they weren't all great but still always had one or two really good players on them. The harder question would be who would be the on the team and the depth chart. Also what defense and offense are we rolling with. That would effect the depth chart as well. I would love to see Mean Joe playing as a 3/4 DE. He would cause absolute havoc.

Whichever offense or defense used by past or the current Steelers of your choosing.

    Essentially guys.. it does not have to be an entire 53 roster. Just pick;

    11 on offense

    11 on defense

    11 on special teams

All for both sides. Then just give me a prediction on what the score would be like.

    San Fran maybe?

All time team would have good offensive firepower of course and a solid secondary.

That could be enough to maybe cause an upset, mayyybe, but their running game wouldnt go much of anywhere.

Would the San Fran Team be allowed a Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott combo if or all time takes Woodson?

Gotta have some rules for player overlap

Depends if you have that player selected for that team if that player played for both.

Thanks for telling me this. I will update the rules accordingly.

I was going to say that the 49ers probably had the best chance. A combo of the 70s Cowboys defense and the 90s offense would also be difficult to take on, but overall we'd take them.

A lot of the others could field great defenses (Giants, Bears) or great offenses (Packers, Raiders) but - I'd argue, anyway - match up on both sides of the ball against our all-time team.

I think, to prevent bias, the team that had them in their prime gets the player.

If there are other examples that pop up. Luckily, a lot of our greats not named rod woodson retired in the burgh, or otherwise fizzled out elsewhere, but almost all Steeler greats were in their prime here.

Do we get the great John Kuhhhhnnnnn? Haha

I was going to include this... but it would be best for people to include one player from their prime; regardless of the team he had achieved his prime in. In addition, only one player is permitted on that team and no duplications are allowed which should cushion the blow.
