I say DeCastro, I could see him signing a 5 year extension for 40 million or more.

DeCastro or Bell because they're free agents (and top priorities) at the end of the season.

More than likely we'll get 'em both extended prior to the season starting.

I don't know if Timmons will even be back unless he comes back for a heck of a lot less.

    Wheaton isn't a top priority.

If I had to guess which got done first I'd say DeCastro.

Not AB, he has 2 years.
Not Timmons for reason stated above.
    Not Wheaton for reason above.
Bell is coming off injury which at the least will make negotiating an extension slow.
Therefore by default, the answer to the question is Decastro.

    i voted A Brown
seeing how we cannot extend Castro because he gets an embargo of his goods and we open up negotiations way way too late with him
unfortunately it is after the fact that ben is hurt because he had zero protection to throw to the number one target who we pumped soooo much money into
    yeah so i vetoed Brown

i'm asking this now not later
you have some kind of list or sumthin to prove the value of said player which proves the value of said contract by some one who said sumthin to the effect of the affect
    just askin

    tbh
castro ends up in Indy who still has a ton of money to spend on players

Even if it is now, DeCastro wins. Regarding Kelechi Osemele, considering he is a tier one guard, I would imagine that DeCastro would want to have a similar pay day.

For three, why would he go to Indy? Even if DeCastro's contract does not get done, next year, for the first time in a long time, Pittsburgh actually has money to keep players. That being said. DeCastro is not going anywhere.

I'm assuming Dar's thought process is that Indy's line play is horrid and since they just invested huge in Luck they will want to protect him and since DeCastro was part of Luck's Oline at Stanford that it makes sense for him to be courted by Indy

Not after yesterday when they made Luck the highest paid player in the NFL, 140 million$ for 6 years, a 32 million signing bonus, and get this, 87 million guaranteed, their cap just took a big hit for 6 years......

I'm just saying they cant spend all of their cap on offense when their defense ranked a pitiful 26 last year, and last year they signed TY Hilton to a 65 mill contract and their OT castonzo to a 43 mill deal and now luck to a 140 mill deal, it wont matter how good the O is if their defense cant stop anyone:

    From FOX 59
Look for the Colts’ approach this offseason to change. After talking with Irsay, we’re expecting them to be more selective in their shopping. He mentioned the expected restrictions created last year when the team signed wide receiver T.Y. Hilton to a five-year, $65 million extension and offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo to a four-year, $43.6 million extension.

My point exactly. David DeCastro is not helping that defense anytime soon unless Indy decides to go all out ground pound; an offensive mindset that completely handicaps Luck's skill-set. Nevermind EDGE help, they need secondary help in the worst of ways.

i just don't see us breaking the bank for a RG. i think finney has a shot at that spot if he plays well this year or at least that could make the bargaining a little more in the steelers favor. between timmons playing his out and DD's option playing out, that should free up a lot of money for bell and AB by next year. finney would be some icing on the cake if he were good enough to take over that spot. this also may free up some money for some others to be kept around depending on their play this year. mitchell maybe or AV. wheaton could be in the mix too depending on this year. so much is up in the air with the youth we have and who steps up. remember harrison, moats, williams and DW are in their final years too. there will be money to spend and holes to fill.:smiley1:

AB will be negotiating a new deal at the end of this season, and the starting number will be over 70 million dollars because that bar has already been set at 70 mill by 3 wideouts, plus 1 making 60 mill, and 1 making 65 mill, so I don't expect we will be willing or able to pay AB 70 mill plus to retain his services, heres the highest and lowest paid receiver chart...

Although decastro will...brown should be first then bell and the decastro. But the easiest contract would be decastro

AB has two years left on his contract. Need to focus on the other two first. I hope we get all three done though.

How do you figure Brown should be first? If they sign him to a new deal there wont be any money left to sign Bell and DD..They took the 5th year option with DD which I consider a sneaky way to make him wait for a new contract that he had already earned in 4 years and should have already been consummated, i'm sure DD already feels slighted by the way he is being treated and if we keep dicking him around we will end up losing him to F Agency....

Not Indy, but a whole bunch of other teams will be after him, like the cards, ravens, giants, skins, jets, just to name 5, but the list is long, and it seems every team is looking for pro bowl lineman, we have a top lineman in DD but instead of locking him up we are pizzing around with a 5th year option.......

i'm seeing the colts still have 13 M in cap space for 2016
quick check mind you and in no way am i trying to be disrepectfultive argumentive
don't know why i initially thought DD would go to indy other than intuition and Luck being there and the way the Steelers do crazy stuff
they will pay ben and ab and forget the fact that neither nor neither are any good if they dont have time to run the route the play is designed for

DD was hurt for one year so this is really year 4. how is paying him over 8 mil. a slight to him or sneaky? he's a right guard, which is the cheapest spot on offense to fill. i hope we keep him but again, i wouldn't break the bank to do it, especially with munchak coaching the line.

A 1 year deal is what you sign with old players who's tank is on the 1/4 mark, not a young player like DD who has a full tank, there is no security in a 1 year deal....

    You mean cheap like this;

Guard Kelechi Osemele signed a 5 year, $58,500,000 contract with the Oakland Raiders, including $25,400,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $11,700,000. In 2016, Osemele will earn a base salary of $6,700,000, a roster bonus of $6,000,000 and a workout bonus of $500,000. Osemele has a cap hit of $13,200,000 while his dead money value is $25,400,000. FA 2021

    Or like this contract:

Guard Brandon Brooks signed a 5 year, $40,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $11,000,000 signing bonus, $21,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,000,000. In 2016, Brooks will earn a base salary of $1,000,000 and a signing bonus of $11,000,000. Brooks has a cap hit of $3,200,000 while his dead money value is $17,000,000. FA 2021

    Or like this:

Guard Mike Iupati signed a 5 year, $40,000,000 contract with the Arizona Cardinals, including a $6,000,000 signing bonus, $22,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,000,000. In 2016, Iupati will earn a base salary of $4,500,000. Iupati has a cap hit of $5,700,000 while his dead money value is $11,300,000. FA 2020
