I don't care what he says, no way Pouncey is 100%, or will be at all this year.

It's not his fault, but I think Steelers need to cut ties...

I saw this today and threw up in my mouth a little. Man I hope it's not true. Such a shame all the injuries he has had to face in his career.

    Tell that to Greg Lloyd!

Furthermore, how do you get Staph in this day and age after surgery, performed by the best in the world for star athletes, was the Doctor using a rusty spoon to make incisions?

Staph is really pretty easy to get actually.

It would've been helpful if you would've provided a link so we know what you're babbling about.

And here we go with the internet Doctor stuff.
So you have access to Pouncey and his medical records and have given him an examination?

What I don't get id the hack writer even bringing up him "blaming" the Steelers for his set-backs. WTF?! How would the Steelers be to blame for a wound that didn't heal and the infections he developed?

    Here you are dude.

@Lizard72@Lizard72 .... Wasn't there a report of a former player that tried to sue his team over staph infection that curtailed his career?

I won't dispute that it happens, and can happen... although what I will say is he is getting the best treatment in the world. I would hope all precautions were made.

I will say though that some surgeons have higher infection rates than others. That is not something people know, since hospitals won't make that information public.

The thing that sucks about this is it really diminishes our upfield blocking. His impact in that regard is tremendous. We need him at 100% for sure. He just adds another layer to our offense when he's out there.

Most of those surgeries had to be Skin Graphs. Let's see what how he looks in training camp before we pass judgement.

Has Pouncey himself said how he is feeling? Or has he responded to these reports? I mean I'm sure he would probably used the same old canned and cliched responses athletes always use like "I'm feeling good and just want to get out there with my teammates" and "I'm just ready to get back to work". But I'd still like to know. If people are sensationalizing things then it might cause him to get a little more candid just to clear things up.

Yeah and everyone actually carries staph on their skin. It's everywhere really. I actually got a staph infection on the end of my nose once and it was super lame.

    Yeah.

Right. Not that they'd want to, but cutting ties isn't an option.

I remember Pouncey's interviews before the GB Superbowl... he was like the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail.

Yup. I had a client, was in his 60's and was having back pain so he went to the hospital, ended up getting MRSA and died, all because he went in for back pain. Freaking tragic.

Did I read a different article than everyone else? What I read said that the surgeries were mostly due to the infection. Infections seems to be better. I read that he was at mini camp, was turning and running and that he felt good. I read that he was ready to do 2 a day training before camp starts. In looking back at comments on here I'm not sure I read what others read. Oh well.

Yeah man MRSA is really deadly. I think it also gets people because they don't realize what it is until it's too late.

How is moving him going to help? It's not like the position is dangerous. Mansfield, Webster and Dawson played center for a combined 529 consecutive games. It's not the position. It's either the person or bad karma.

My 37 year old grand son has MRSA from an ankle surgery 3 years ago, he has a hole in his ankle so they can shoot anti biotics into it but it's never going to get rid of the MRSA evidently: Then I had major surgery last November and after going into ICU nurses told me I better get out of their as fast as I can or I would get MRSA, I got out of there the next day feeling like hell and the doctors did all they could to keep me in there but to no avail, I had two big incisions just waiting to get MRSA in them so I left there in a damn hurry and glad I did....

Never had one, but that sounds like an understatement!

I think Pouncey will be back to his usual self and the line play will be even better for it. Now's not the time to talk about jettisoning the guy. He's had some bad luck injuries (DeCastro and getting run up on), but the guy is a talent. Let's just hope he is rehabbing correctly and comes back 100%
