I don't know how to link anything but, I just saw a picture of Cam Newton's custom car. Cam, SERIOUSLY?? You do that to a '70 442 convertible??? a car that's worth high 5 figures stock?? If you had to do it to an Olds, do it to a Cutlass. Leave my beloved 442s alone!! Better, do it to a Pontiac!

    :club:

68 GTO, convertible, best looking car ever made.

I was expecting much worse from Cams car, I kinda like it.

Except for the '68 442 convertible!
I've got a '67 442 holiday coupe that I've spent YEARS restoring, stock. There are few enough Oldsmobiles left, it kills me to see one pimped out.
I just looked it up and there were only 2933 442 convertibles made in 1970! Now there's one less.

I guess it could be worse, he might have done it to a W-30!

Not my style, but I don't hate it. If I read correctly, it was a restoration project, so it wasn't like he ruined a mint 442.

Granted, he didn't spend that much (cost being relative, of course) to do this, but isn't this just further proof why many athletes die pennyless? Most of these guys desperately need a financial planner, and someone to run this stuff by before they go out and spend insane amounts of money on really dumb purchases that will be worth nothing soon thereafter.

Well, he spent 45,000. on the "restoration", I haven't seen anywhere what he paid for the car to begin with. If it were a pristine car to begin with, It should cost between 60,000.-90,000.00

My best friend growing up has a 68 GTO. He got it when he was 15 (his first car) and still has it today. I was with him when he bought it 30 years ago. Mine was a 67 Chevelle. We did so much work to both of those cars. Mine was totaled when I was 20.
Here's a picture of his today.

This one is mine. Years ago, I had a '68 442 coupe 4 speed. Wish I still had that one!

Love it. As far as Im concerned, GTO's are the best looking cars of all time. Kind of fitting that the GTO also went by the name GOAT, which did not stand for greatest of all time but might as well have :thumbs up:

My older brother rebuilt his 68 GTO in our garage, I remember his mechanics teacher in HS (and later my teacher) would come over and help. My brother spent days and nights in that garage, every piece of that engine sprawled out on the floor. After finally finishing it and having it painted, it was keyed the first week in a parking lot of some club. He garaged it after that and only took it out on special occasions, bought a Trans Am for his everyday car.

He's since restored it again but had someone else do it. This is it:
