Umm pretty sure you are talking about the past and future, at the present time no football is being played so it would be hard for the team to be beat. You are dismissing Glen's point based on when they happened but cherry picking past events based on supporting your belief.

Cherry picking? I started out saying this before the first contradicting post so how is that cherry picking? I'm not sugar coating it like some. You can't just dismiss what's happened over the last year and half and try to rationalize it away. I don't care about what happened 7 years ago in 2008. What happened then has nothing to do with now. NOW....Harbaugh is owning Tomlin. That's right now as of the most recent season. I'm trying to get to the Super Bowl NOW...

I can tell you don't like it; I don't like it. But don't shoot the messenger.

And it's not about "beliefs" these are facts:

    1. Fact...we got swept last year by a crappy team that went 5-11. And we made Ryan Mallet look like Tom Brady.

    2. Fact...we got eliminated in the 2014 playoffs, at home by the Ravens.

Truth is, if tomlin didnt get his coaching job with this talented playoff ready team and instead he landed with a mediocre team like the Browns or Jags, he would have been fired after 2-3 years and would now be a minor assistant coach in obscurity, by his own admission he said he was going to have to learn how to be a head coach on the job, this team made tomlin not the other way around.......

Yeah you're cherry picking, which seems to be your thing.
Until 2014 the ravens had never beat us in the playoffs. Sometimes these things run in cycles. Yes we've lost three in a row to the ravens, but we might win the next three which is why you can't Cherry pick the last three games.
Tomlin actually holds a slight edge over Harbaugh. Which means Tomlin is better.

Plus only Harbaugh beats the Ravens.
And another thing this is a best things about Tomlin thread. If you want to complain about him maybe start your own thread?

You should probably look up the definition of "present"

If that's your biggest complaint about Tomlin, then you must have no issues

We haven't? Not that this stat is the end all be all, but as a barometer for pass defense it's fine.

Passing Yards Against per Game League Ranking
    Tomlin
    2015 - 30th
    2014 - 27th
    2013 - 9th
    2012 - 1st
    2011 - 1st
    2010 - 12th
    2009 - 16th
    2008 - 1st
    2007 - 3rd

    Cowher
    2006 - 20th
    2005 - 16th
    2004 - 4th
    2003 - 11th
    2002 - 20th
    2001 - 4th
    2000 - 9th

I laugh my ass off at the "he won with Cowher's players" nonsense...

I don't know what this means. Is it anecdotal failed drafts picks? The type of which are on the resume of every coach... ever.

Dude, the only thing we can care about is the here and now. Not 2008.

We are trying to get to the Super Bowl RIGHT NOW. So the things that affect us RIGHT NOW is all that should concern any of us. and RIGHT NOW, Harbaugh is doing a number on Tomlin and it doesn't seem to matter who has the better team. Sometimes these things DO run in cycles just like you said; but for us to go where we want to go, we've got to deal with the Ravens and what their doing to us.

Not about "cherry picking" it's about what's going on RIGHT NOW.

And..I wasn't the one who initially brought this up; another poster did. So relex. I made a follow up statement; obviously you didn't like it; oh well. It was the truth..deal with it. If it bothers you so, maybe you need to start your own thread too?

Also...go after the poster who originally brought it up in this thread. How about that?

I think, Dean, the problem some people are have is you ARE "cherry picking". You are deciding for people what current, past and future mean. You have somehow decided that current only relates to the last year and a half. You have decided (although I'm not sure how) that the playoff loss constitutes something that effects the here and now. I think it would be fine if this were your opinion but you are saying it as fact when I can decide (with just as much right) that everything Tomlin has done since he has been here effects where we are now. Using the criteria I have just designated as fact it would suggest that Harbaugh is indeed Tomlin's Bit**.

Thank you Jim for clearing that up for me. I can't decide anything for anyone else. I don't have that much power. LOL. All I said was we got swept by a team that won only 5 games total last year. And we were clearly the superior team. The previous time we saw them before those two times, they knocked us out of the 2014 playoffs..at home.

For me, that's the most recent. If people choose to look at it another way, that's their option. But for me, the most recent matters; and it matters because we can't go where we want to go until we at least split with the Ravens.

In my book, right now, Tomlin is being owned by Harbaugh. Everyone else is allowed to see it any way they want to. But that's the way it's seen by me and by Lady Steel. I'm sure we are not alone in that type of thinking.

Being born and raised here in western Pennsylvania, I'm a diehard Steelers, Pens and Pirates fan, but I call 'em like I see 'em. At the present time, Harbaugh does own Tomlin's ass and, quite frankly, I don't give a rat's patootie if anyone agrees with that or not. Just sayin'.

Just did a little research and Tomlin holds a slight edge over Harbaugh in W/L.

Harbaugh doesnt own ****, he has a losing record against Tomlin. If you want to say he's kicked his ass lately, fine, I agree.

Tomlin will come out on top in this season's match up, though.

I've added the "harbough owns Tomlin" argument to the top 10 dumbest I've seen On this board. It hasn't entered Steven Jackson territory, but it's climbing every time another person points to the past and refers to it as the present

I call'em the same way too. Tomlin needs to grab his crotch and grow a pair when he sees the Ravens.

The first game last season vs the Ravens can be thrown out because of Vick was incapable of completing a pass, if Ben played the Steelers win.

What coach wins without talent duh? Belichick got fired in Cleveland, he didn't have Brady and had a mediocre team.

And it was the Browns. Not exactly the beginning of a long string of great decisions.

And the lack of a kicker.

How is that the coaches fault? Purely a question.

Now, with that said, a win is a win and a loss is a loss, and that is what coaches are judged on.

That's exactly what I was referring to, thus, my saying "present time," as in, you know, "lately." Kicking his ass lately is the same thing as saying he owns his ass at the present time. I really have to wonder if some of the people around here have even graduated high school. Their reading comprehension is that bad.
